Greater Manchester Community renewables have done several share offers and put solar on many community buildings, including schools and community centres. They offered around 3% return for shareholders, and profit wreinvested into that community's sustainability projects. All the share offers were fully subscribed and all performed according to the projected returns from the energy generated.

As an aside: Have you heard of the Green Library Bus scheme for the elderly during very cold weather? No, neither have I, despite libraries having a surfeit of heat to share and not enough people to share it with. (and the libraries' own ambient temperatures would rise with a hundred extra people in the building and thus reduce THEIR own energy costs as well as those of all the elders visiting. This has a win-win feel to it if someone can do the math and present it as contributing to a nationwide climate-resilience solution, and a builder of social resiliences and, therefore, individual health.
