Land Commission, NEMA pinned in wetland allocations

Owners of close to 200 plots in the city wetlands of Butabika, Luzira, Bugolobi and Kansanga among other Kampala suburbs stand a risk of losing the money they used to buy the plots and construct structures.
A letter from the Kampala City Authority's Directorate of Physical planning, alleges that the Lands commission in collaboration with NEMA, leased the plots for private use. But the environment management authority has denied the allegations saying it does not give out land. However Parliament has threatened to bring to book all parties involved parties until every inch of the wetlands encroached on is vacated.
