You are such a lovely family that brings back fond memories from the time we traveled around the world with our children. We are watching you from a winterly Oslo Norway. If nothing else, this experience will create a phenomenal platform for your children to become experienced and confident individuals who understand that the world is more than just a limited neighborhood. We wish you safe sailing and fair winds!

Welcome to Fatu Hiva! It means "unusual cliff(s)" in Polynesian. Fun fact - it's the only island in Polynesia where cannibalism was practiced. Good luck! 😀

THIRTY DAYS!?!??! ON A CAT!? Were you rowing all the way? Geezus! I've seen Stan Huntington designs cross the Pacific in less!!! PS I really like the wooden cockpit doors on your cat though. Last remnants of "old school" before catamarans became mainstream.

Scout’s a tank… .75 inch double hulls, 250 gallons of fuel, 220 gallons of water, all kinds of spare everything (mostly inherited). We’ll win no races but hopefully stand a good chance of arriving in one piece.

4:50 WHAT!? Dios mio! (Why I speak so much Spanish today?) How many good eggs you threw away because they didn't float!!! Some eggs float when they are good. The best way to test them is to break them in a separate cup and smell.

8:49 Welcome back, GRINCH! But yes... no, you didn't cross the Pacific. In fact you didn't even cross a third of it. 🙂 Thanks, Frenchies, for having colonies everywhere.

2:25 That's actually a nice fish! Funny how some cruisers catch fish all the time and some complain they can't catch anything. INVEST IN GOOD LURES!!!! Tunas don't bite on anything under 25 bucks.

Yes. Happy at how the gear is holding up. Early on I lost a lot of fish with poor lures / hooks / knot tying.

8:00 Woooo, LOVE those. The funnest part in waves like that is to watch the speedo. I once saw 23 knots when sliding down one of those thingies. KABOOM! Had to pump out 15 tons of water from the boat after but it was still FUN... many years later. 😀 PS It's in waves like that you realize that even catamarans need gimballed stoves!!!

Our surfing record is 14.9. 23 is impressive!

@@sailing_scout So even in a crash, it's slow. 😀 23kt was recorded while in transit from Jamaica to San Blas. Didn't look too deep into the weather forecast. Huge waves. The boat dove into a trough and was tucked in by a wave. With the companionway open. Oh joy! 😀

3:49 I can't imagine the ever vigilant ( 😀) Megan didn't mention how dangerous this particular episode was. You've BARELY missed a collision with a whale. AND NOBODY WAS EVEN AT THE HELM!!! You know what a whale can do to a small boat? Mucho dolor! Seriously, people, WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING!!!

She (we) just hopes the whales avoids us…

@@sailing_scout Nope. Whales can't see. They dive to 3km depth where sight is not necessary. And when you're sailing the engines are off so they can't hear you. And they don't have echo location of dolphins so... be careful.

11:30 What ARE you doing!? You circled the harbor THREE TIMES. Wanted a better view? Or quieter neighbors? 🙂
@sailing_scout9 ай бұрын
It was DEEP there. We were trying to find a place that wasn’t too deep and yet not too close to other boats. Ended up dropping in 100 feet and putting all 330 feet of our chain out - still giving us barely 3:1. Gone are the days in the Bahamas of 10 foot deep sandy bottom as far as the eye can see.

@@sailing_scout They really need mooring balls all over the Pacific. The most "fun" when anchoring is Makatea (I hope I remember it right!!!). Coral reef, no sand, steep drop... three mooring balls. If you're fourth, you're sleeping with the fishes... literally. 🙂

I have watched and lived vicariously through several youtube travelers. Some have been fantastic (La Vagabond, Wynns, Nahoa, Red Seas etc.) and some have very good but stopped producing videos (Folsom Ocean Views) and some are entertaining but still haven't caught my full attention. You guys are definitely on my radar every week. Keep up the videos, your doing great!

Congratulations on completing your 4,200 mile crossing leg in the Pacific! I discovered your channel a couple of months ago and I have since caught up with all your content. Your opening sequences are very well done, with a great mix of video, stills, graphics, and a catchy theme song. Your productions effectively tell the story of your adventures as individuals and as a family. I appreciate that you are sharing your journey with viewers. Your videos feature excellent footage, a variety of music that complements the scenes, and are skillfully edited together. You paint a more honest and real picture of cruising life. It's impressive that you were able to maintain a weekly posting schedule using Starlink in the middle of the Pacific. Keep up the fantastic work!

Congratulations! I've been watching since Panama. NICE Tuna, great brownies in the middle of the saltwater. I've never thought about being apprehensive about stepping on land after sailing for 31 days. But I guess it's like Kevin Costner in the movie Water World. He finally made it to land, only to leave soon, and that's why you guys are sailors. Again, congrats.
