Huge land reclamation project! The beach at the Baltic Sea in Germany has suffered through the rough weather over the years. Now it is time for rebuilding and preparing the beach for the following summer season. A ship is pumping sand from the ground of the sea through massive pipes. Bulldozers CAT D6N with GPS laser and excavator CAT 319D grading and leveling the sand to restore the beach. The whole area has to be closed for puplic some time to avoid people sinking in the fresh wet sand.

I bet some of that equipment wasn't a lot of good after the sand and salt water combined with the sea air had been "at it" for a few months. I like the DIY transporter built on CAT 'LGP' tracks.

Ah that explains it all. The Baltic is a bit of an unusual sea in that it is mainly fresh water with fresh water fish living in that part, however where it meets the Atlantic it obviously mixes and becomes a salt water sea and salt water fish live in it. Nevertheless I don't know how happy I would be with expensive machines 'paddling' in it and of course sand wears things out a lot quicker than most things do.
