Sadly, the fellow in the England who made the ECUMATE retired in ~2016 and stopped making it. Even more sadly, he did not pass this on to another person, nor did he open source it or provide DIY instructions. If the original ECUMATE guy ever sees this.. for the love of pete, PLEASE open this up for the rover community!

Great video, I wish I'd seen this when I first bought my ECU mate, took me ages to work out where to plug it in just couldn't for the life of me find any reference! My Disco 1998 3.9 isn't quite running right but is on LPG so there are any number of potential issues. I bought a £12 stepper motor and found it revved at 1000rpm so took it out. I'll try your method now of trying to adjust it through the ECU mate. Good stuff, great that people like you take the time to explain it to noobs like me :-)

My v8 disco 1 won't idle at all. Could this be a stepper motor issue? I recently well and truely drowned the engine (hydrolocked) and vehicle in a deep river crossing.

excellent vid, wondering though if a stepper motor stuck in idle would cause rough running and idle.

Possible but check your air flow meter. Sometimes the voltage can be out on the idle screw, Google Rover V8 air flow meter voltage there's a website that gives some great instructions for testing and adjustment cheers
