I just love it :)) Ive got a 27 year old 90 (pre defender) and it will still come out better than the other 4x4s. Landys are just the best.

I've been driving over 40 yrs and my 300TDi Discovery is the best car I've ever owned. Go anywhere, incredible in snow, tow anything, seriously comfortable and on the odd occasion it needs a part they're as cheap as chips. You guys are great showing what I'm missing not taking it to the next level.

As a owner of a '95 Tanami Edition Deefa and 3 mid '90's Disco's, i simply could not own any other brand. Sure, these need upkeep, just like any other family member, lol. But, as long as you tend to their needs, they will not let you down. Go the 'Mighty Landy'! Cheers for sharing. Brett

Yes! Let people say whatever they want. All I know is that here on the Jersey Shore, my land rover discovery quite literally saved lives. I went out the day after the storm in waters up the doors to get my friends out that failed to evacuate. You wouldn't believe how many stalled and ruined Ford's, dodges, and especially jeeps I saw on and in the road that went out to be looky-loos but their vehicles just couldn't handle it. After being washed out in the storm, and then driving through the storm, and then being my daily driver well over a year later. WITH Working air conditioning and heated seats still, tell me what's unreliable.

I had much the same experience in my wife’s 2015 LR4 here in Houston after Hurricane Harvey a few years ago. We used it as a high water fording vehicle ferrying work crews around through the mayhem that was left thereafter. Super impressive vehicle... primarily a grocery getter, kid hauler... but even stock... and an amazing off-roader.
@Fourby15 жыл бұрын
Most of these vehicles are diesel and could theorectically run fully submerged, if the engine could breathe. They are equiped with snorkels for that very reason. Petrol engines are far more likely to fail due to electrical shorting if the ignition circuits. Brave man in the rangerover with no snorkel and a V8 petrol engine! Land Rover - The Best 4x4 by far!

I have a Discovery 2. Funny how LR has such a bad reputation. I've only had to replace the usual ABS sensors and deal with other "quirks" of the brand. Other than that, It always starts, always moves and will go anywhere with very little complaining...That's with 200k miles (322,000 km) on the clock - Original engine and transmission. I've done water crossings like this even with the V8 petrol version - a year later, NO issues. It leaks oil everywhere, and eats brakes, but it's been the most reliable 4x4 I've ever had.

I picked up a rover for 800 then dumped a 100 worth of scrap yard parts in it, another 300 for tires, 100 for a battery, 300 for a new windshield 200 worth of other unnamed. Just paid another 300 for radiator hoses and water pump. So 2g in and still happy about it. I've drove it off road as hard and fast as one can and the thing is still in one peice.

over here in Oz there is only one vehicle we trust off road and it is NOT the landrover. sorry guys, you may like your retro landys but in the outback where you life depends on it you NEED a Landcruiser ;-P
@fragglevooper10 жыл бұрын
Plenty of Land Rovers in OZ. It's true though in the Australian outback it's easier to get spares for a Toyota though. At around 2.6 tons the Land-cruiser is a joke. Heavy with terrible fuel consumption. And they break just like everything does if it's not looked after

***** Tried and tested dependability is why the guys down under choose a Toyota. They can't afford for a leak 2000 km into a trail that could disable the vehicle.

Sili-seal the crap out of everything. It works very well, until you break something and need to hoik the sealant off. I waterproofed my V8, but it's running carbs and a mechanical electronic ignition conversion in the dizzy, no other electronics to speak of. The intake was waterproofed by silicon sealing a tupperware box round the carbs and running the snorkel to it, and the distributor was sealed with gaffa tape. Extended breathers meant it survived a week up to the windscreen in a flood.

If you look the green Range Rover doesn't have a snorkel, I am surprised it pick water up in the air intake even more surprised it didn't become a V3/4 due to dizzy/coil becoming soaked. All the others were diesels with snorkels and old enough to have limited technology so just kept running, good for them.

@MrChedeo Snorkles, they are the black "pipes" running along side the A pillars. They move the engine air intake to the roof of the vehicle. This stops water from entering the cyclinders and causing hydrolocking.

I traded my Jeep TJ in on a 2006 LR3. The only thing in this whole vid I don't like is the ARB sign. I had ARB air locker fore and aft on my Jeep and they were nothing but total junk. The pump kept burning out, the tank never would hold pressure and the lockers always leaked oil. Just expensive junk. I had them installed by factory trained mechanics because I will be the first one to admit I am not a mechanic. I sure do love the LR3. Over here almost no one takes them off road, except me.
