Everything comes in the box with this ready to fly J-11. Just attach the tail, optionally with some hot glue, charge up the flight battery, install 4 AA batteries in the transmitter and you are ready to go!
We found this J-11 quite challenging to fly on the maiden flight after following the instructions to prepare it for flight. With the stabilisation system the roll rate is limited in both beginner and expert mode. Jason had to land quickly due to the limited control to think of making some adjustments. We moved the push rods to the outer hole of the servo arm to get maximum physical throw and then removed the stabilisation system from the setup by plugging the cables for the control surfaces directly into the receiver. An improvement but the wallowing/rocking effect in level flight was even more noticeable. CG was as stated and the provided battery was right up the front of the compartment so we think we need to investigate the stabilisation system to see if it needs better configuration. Not the result we hoped for for a maiden flight but we will do some adjustments and try again soon preferably off water !
GOOD:
Everything in the box to get flying
Made of very hard wearing EPP foam
Flies off rough land and water
The way it flies makes it challenging for even the most experienced RC pilot !
NOT SO GOOD:
It doesn't look like a J-11 or any other full size aircraft !
Roll rate limited by the stabilisation system even in Expert mode
Slightly strange roll characteristics in flight even with correct CG

That is absolutely underpowered, these low cost planes save money that way, that thing should be extremely fast and that is a floater , can't even do a loop? Look for an upgraded version in the future after they get complaints, like my jet

I have watched MANY videos of the numerous North Star derivatives and the Arrow, and nearly all show the same roll wobble/wallow. Laddie Mikulasko has acknowledged this, but probably correctly notes that it is harmless. The stabiliser/controller should correct for that, but would need the proper settings. I have seen somewhere that the CG position in the published North Star and Arrow plans was too far back, and that may have propagated to the mass-produced scaled-down versions such as this one. I wonder whether the intake-like leading edge extensions have some effect. Laddie has noted that small changes to the design can have unpredictable consequences, and I suspect those cosmetic "intakes" may disturb the airflow.

I just got this yesterday, and thought it flew quite well, when there was no breezy I found it very stable, as soon as some wind came it became a little shakey, once im used to it ill detach the gyro and see what its like then. How do you switch off the gyro? I can't figure it out

@@Thomasfreestyle01 just disconnect it, and plug direct into the reciver, if you're using the radio you got with it just be careful as its very sensitive, I linked it to my radio and have it at 40% expo and 75% dual i go to 100% when doing rolls. Look on my videos I have a friend following me in a fpv racing quad.

I have one of these that.floes great but the TX dies intermittently. Not a big deal but I am not being able to swap it too a standard Flsky TX/RX. One servo connector uses signal wire across 1,2, and 3 on the stock receiver on this model HLK-31. Is it the same on the one in your video?

I think its not an Issue of the Delta configuration, I've seen many Deltas, even small Ones, flying a lot smoother, i think this Problem is caused by the Lay out of this Plane, the Decalage is looking quiet akward. Merry X-Maß👍🏻

Ground Control RC when flying it I also said it felt tail heavy but the CofG is on the nail. Even moving the battery as far forward as possible left it very twitchy. If this can be tamed it’s a great looker.

I have the RTR version and the transmitter and receiver unbound and can’t for the life of me figure out how to get them rebound. The receiver has a set button so it does not appear to use a bind plug but can’t find any procedure for the “xiaxiu-x6” transmitter it comes with in the instructions or online. Anyone had any success rebinding the receive and transmitter that come with this thing?

Alishanmao did a recent review of this and other than him experiencing poor radio/servo resolution (In which case you using the outer servo arm holes would compound the issue) it certainly looked to have far better flight characteristics than here. Conditions may also have been calmer for him though.. I reckon it is probably gyro related, I'd look at trying to increase bank angle limit on the gyro/stabaliser and use the inner servo arm holes to improve servo resolution. Please do a follow up video once you get it solved as this has real potential to be an extremely versatile plane. There is an almost identical model called the HLK-31 thats available in kit form for only £50 posted. Got mine sitting here waiting to be built. Can you please tell me where the CG point should be? Thanks..

Hi Paul - I saw Ali's video as well and it flew like a completely different aeroplane. We took out the stabiliser and used the outer holes on the elevons to get more throw and it still didn't fly as well as we thought it should. We parked it due to other projects but will get it out soon and upload a video answering your other questions. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
