Roger this vid is spot on. Like you I've had my LC from new 1998 4.2 diesel and still drives like new. Aircon leak on passenger side all fixed thanks to you. I would say i drilled my hole 3mm above centre so didn't align perfect but still got a wire through. You imagine its a hose blocked and not just dumping water into the engine box ...but thats all it does. Now I've seen where the wire comes into the box....hidden all seems easy now doww.

Thanks for letting me know it worked! And I'm glad it did. Since then I installed a cabin air filter, which will probably help keep the crap out of there - to my surprise I found that everything was there apart from the filter elements themselves, by which I mean the 'hatch' to gain access was there from new. Have to pull the glove box off, not a big deal, main thing seems to be to put the bar that holds it back properly, I've had a couple of 'professionals' re-install it upside down, and then the box won't close properly. The first to do this had to make new holes for a couple of screws, which was pretty silly! I couldn't find the correct filter element, but cut down one I found that was a bit longer. Other than that I found all I needed to see how to do it on the net.

Excellent. New LC owner and 4 days in I notice a damp patch in the passenger footwell. I love simple fixes like this. Mine came from dusty Aus outback so I imagine there's a bit of dust built up. I'll give this a shot tomorrow. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I assume mine was mostly full of leaves and so on, probably all I did was make a hole through it so the water could drain out, but so far, and it's been a few years, it has not needed a repeat 'prod'. A bigger hole would no doubt help if 10mm doesn't do the job, but only to help see what's in there - I don't think a stick much bigger than that will fit through the drain. I assume it will work with outback bush dust, would like to hear how it goes.

Does this work well?

Worked well for me!! Not all Cruisers are built the same way, so it wouldn't work for some. But it would only take a few seconds to see if you have that drain under the glove box. No need to take anything apart.

I should add: I drilled a 10mm hole because I happened to have a 10mm grommet - a bigger hole would make it easy to see more of what's going on. Just be careful not to drill too far in!!
