LANDCRUISER - New rear main seal, pilot bearing and reinstall trans.

Removed and replaced the rear main seal on my 3B diesel. Also did the pilot bearing, clutch disk, pressure plate, and reinstalled the transmission.

why would you use mild thread locker on the outer side of the seal maikes no sense it wouldn't come out once put in and you didn't run some grese around the innner side of the seal that will be in contact with the crank

Hey, using mild thread locker was taught to me by a performance boat mechanic a long time ago for all seals mating with metal. It helps it slide in and more importantly can seal up any scratches or imperfections. It will definitely come out the with the same effort. (You don’t want to be splitting these things apart after the fact) There are several good engineering discussions on this technique with a quick google search. Yes, definitely rub grease on the inner part of the seal. I may have done it off camera? Don’t recall.

Bj60? Is that even a model? In Australia I can't say I've ever seen one.

Yeah man. Canadian version of the FJ60 (USA) but has the diesel 3B. (4 cylinder) 🤟

@@Missedmyride wow cool. The 60 series in Oz never came out with b series diesel. Only h series. Cool car they're becoming quite the collectors car here. Take care of her.

I was actually wondering that. All the Ozzy guys I follow have the H and never saw the 3B. Some of our 40s have the 3B as well (BJ40).
