Landing a Delta A330 on Amsterdam’s SHORTEST RUNWAY! Max Braking / FULL STOP on the Runway!!!

Oh baby, I am still BUZZING from this landing in Amsterdam! This one has it all, folks. PREMIUM CONTENT alert 🚨 Don't forget to SMASH those Like and Subscribe buttons! Winds were gusty and variable at 28 knots, gusting 39 knots. The only runway open for landing was Amsterdam’s shortest, the Oosterbaan, runway 22, at only 6,600 feet. My people landed a freaking A330-300 on it and brought it to a complete stop on the runway in about 3,000 feet of runway. Planted it in the runway right on the 1,000-footers after a turbulent approach and exited the runway at taxiway G4.
Wing flex on a turbulent approach; wingtip vortices; firm landing; max braking; max reverse thrust TEARING UP the rain soaked runway. Extremely professional job by these Delta pilots. Bravo!!!! This is a landing I will not soon forget!
Interesting fun fact! A week or so later a Delta A330 was attempting to land on the same runway and touched down in the grass BEFORE the runway threshold and destroyed some runway threshold lights. As a result, Delta changed its operating procedures to prohibit landing on this runway in Amsterdam!!! So glad I got to experience this before it was outlawed!

I know this feeling! I was on a flight to hawaii on an a330, and as we landed it used its reverse thrust, and it was probably the loudest reverse thrust ive ever heard

In the moment it was happening, my mind was blown. I wonder if anyone else onboard noticed! Interestingly, Delta’s operating procedures no longer allow landing on Runway 22 because a couple weeks later an Airbus A330 touched down a few feet before the threshold, taking out some runway lights

Even that firm landing looked smooth. It is like the A330 is just unable to slam a touchdown. It must be a really nice aircraft to fly on as a pilot and a passenger!

The brakes on that plane won't last very long if Delta has to continue doing that. They might need brake maintenance on that plane every two days at that rate.

@@pepijnbosvelt2526 wowwww! At the time of filming, I was surprised their operations allowed landing an A330 on runway 22. As you can see the braking was intense. I wonder if they’ll outlaw it going forward. It was definitely cool seeing heavies fly low over central Amsterdam though!

What a crazy landing. I know during strong storm bigger jets use the 22 for landing but i thought max size is a A321. Amazing to see an A 330 landing there.

No, that is a little different, even larger aircraft still land on 22 and surely A330s in all sort of types. The conclusion of the report is: Investigators have determined that a Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-300 touched down short of the runway at Amsterdam, after the crew sought to mitigate a perceived risk of overrun and descended below the glideslope. The inquiry says the pilots’ experience with runway 22 - and shorter runways in general - was limited, leading to a heightened focus on managing approach speed. At the time Delta did not provide short-runway training to A330 pilots. But Delta will land their A330s again (if the weather circumstances require it).
