This is the end of a trip from Biggin Hill (EGKB) to RAF Woodvale, to attend a friend's wedding reception. My first proper trip in this new group aircraft.
I'd spent most of the flight sitting on top of the clouds at 5,000ft in clear blue skies, but had descended south of Liverpool to cross their zone.
Flew past Woodvale a few miles North to do some orbits around Meols Hall where the wedding was taking place, which set me up about 9 miles north of the airfield.
Long final approach and taxi past the RAF training fleet of Grob Tutors.
Apologies for forgetting to switch on the speaker! I used a filter on the lens to reduce prop blur, worked quite nicely.

Nice man. I used to go past this place all the time as a child and always wanted to land that approach and this is what I've got. Thank you!

Tom Shannon Thanks, I'm still getting to grips with the beast but it's rewarding when it all goes right!

How did you get permission to fly into an RAF base? I would love to do that one day

Looked like it was quite a handful that day! Is that Daniel and David's PA38? If so, it is very, very nice! Lucky you.

Was an interesting flight, all kinds of wether conditions on the way up. It's a PA32, and yes they're members of the group.

Which filter are you using for the prop blur? Your pictures look very clear and crisp. I use an NFlightcam filter for my Gopro, and they really aren't that crisp and clear.

Just a generic bit of plastic filter I picked up from Ebay with a lens cap I got from stuntcams (which I managed to lose after this flight!)

Original right hand technique. I wish I could see how you move throttles on twins :)

Seven mile final is a bit long for a Saratoga, isn't it?

Plenty long enough. But if you're North of fthe airfield and approaching on the runway heading and the circuit is empty it woul dbe a bit weird to fly past it and rejoin on downwind or base?

This is very long final.... Any check list use?

It's a straight in final, around 8 miles! Why do you need a check list to know your pre-landing checks? It has 6 items on it.

"Why do you need a check list to know your pre-landing checks?" Remind me not to fly with this guy. I've been flying for over 30 years, and no matter how familiar I am with a plane, I ALWAYS use a checklist.
