I grew up in cork, and just loved landing into cork airport, its very magical when landing into the irish airports.

That approach into Knock made me tear up. I've been away in Australia a few years now and haven't been home due to the pandemic. I CAN NOT wait to be on final approach into Knock myself next year sometime.

I definitely found what I was looking for when I flew into Knock - my DNA matches show that some of my Mayo ancestors definitely lived in villages around where the airport is today. :-)

Spectacular footage - thanks for uploading (used to watch planes come in at EICK back in the day. The house just before the 17 threshold with the approach lights in the back garden used to fascinate me. Intriguing to see it from the air!)

When I look at the tarmac at Shannon I think of the great names that walked that piece of ground , jfk the pope john Paul, Boris yelstsen who failed to get off the plane because he was langersed drunk lol ha , my uncle Tom Benn ,big tom was head of security at Shannon, he's in the video of reeling in the years when borris never got off the plane , circled over Shannon for an hour while his people wondered what to do ,the red carpet was out and they were all waiting, Albert Reynolds bertie ahead hahah classic stuff..thanks again for the upload x

Anytime I ever return to Ireland on a flight it’s sunny and clear, then in the final 15 mins of approach the cloud gets thick, it’s grey, usually raining and freezing cold, even in summer.

Aer Lingus (Shamrock) I would imagine... no hope of finding Ryanair in one of those "regional" airports in Ireland. Didn't even know there was one in Kerry, you wouldn't want to overshoot that runway!!

@@pjmccracken I'm fairly sure it's a Boeing 737 aircraft. Listen to the GPWS callouts. Airbus has different GPWS callouts, plus Aer Lingus doesn't fly Boeing aircraft so it is probably Ryanair.

Yep, Ryanair. Prior to the pandemic, they served more regional Irish airports than Aer Lingus.

It is such a pity only airports in the Republic of Ireland were covered. Knock and Farrenfore are so insignificant when compared to Belfast Harbour and Belfast International Aldergrove.

I'd just like to say that I've transitioned Shannon several times coming back from deployments in some really nasty places in Southwest Asia.....and that stop is the first place you could get a beer after months. There was the same gentleman tending the bar at 1:00 A.M. every-time I made that flight and he had the bar loaded with Guinness every-time we came off the plane...all 200 of us....I n ever got his name, but he should get some sort of Irish medal. I will also say that my wife and I toured Ireland a couple years ago and loved it. Particularly Dublin.
