First story the landlord is a absolute slumlord, the op needs to contact both the BBB and the owner of the land who is having this slumlord manage their property. I had a slumlord once and the home I lived in degraded big time to the point it got condemed, and ontop of that the water main busted and we could not get it fixed at all because the city said it's the landlords problem and our landlord was a slumlord. Save the future tenants now before they have to deal with these nightmare people

That first story reminded me of a landlord one of my sisters had to deal with. Situation was a bit different but it was clear they didn't get along. Now the landlord didn't own the property but was hired by the property owners to manage it along with several other rentals. When my sister moved out she took a video camera and recorded a full walk through of the place with leaving and going to the landlords door and turning in the keys all in a single recording. The fallout... My sister got a summons for court being sued for over 80 grand due to extensive damages to the unit. There were pictures of all the walls torn out, oven door broken off the oven, pipes trashed, massive water damage from said pipes, trash everywhere, the place got condemned. It was estimated that it would cost around 80 grand at the time to fix everything back up. My sister played the recording of the condition of the house as she turned in the keys and it came out in court that the landlord did the damages himself to pin it on my sister. Now I do not know what happened to the landlord after but last I heard years ago that the owners fired him and was likely going to sue for the damages. Not sure if police got involved or not but my sister won the case and didnt get stuck with an 80 grand bill. This was back around 2003-2005 timerange.

This is why you take pictures and footage of any place you rent, because you never know what type of landlord you're going to get.
@KaityKat117
@KaityKat117 Жыл бұрын
this is why I always take plenty of pictures the day i move in and the day I move out. and op's story is why you always keep record of every correspondence with your landlord. If you're forced to communicate over the phone, make a recording of the phone call (if you live in a two-party state you may have to tell the landlord the call is being recorded before anything is said otherwise the recording won't be admissible in court)

Second story. The OP should really try to persuade his girlfriend to go to therapy alone so that she can talk to a therapist about all of her fears and worries, that way she can blurt out whatever she wants without fear of the OP finding out and judging her for it. Hopefully if she does go alone this will give her confidence boost that she needs to not rely on the OP so much. But if she still refuses to better herself mentally then the OP should just let her go and find someone else that will make him happy. Cause frankly in my eyes she is just using marriage as a tool to make sure he doesn't cheat or look at anyone else instead out of genuine love and if that is true marrying will only inflate her anxiety and make her find more means to have a firm grip on the OP's life.
@monroerobbins7551
@monroerobbins7551 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Like, does she have any hobbies, any friends outside of OP? Like, she sounds both hella noncommittal, but also obsessive. She wants to get hitched and have kids, but she refuses to put in the same effort as OP. She wants the security, it feels like, but if she’s paranoid now, marriage will only make it worse, cause that has pressure.

Story 1: If the landlords are that negligent and uncaring, i would've taken the offer to get out of the lease when it was given. The landlords from the company, and the supposed "roofer" are the major jerks here. Good on the OP for putting them in their place here, along with getting that stupid fine waived. Always good to know your rights and the law. One question i have is, where was the owner of the house during this?? I know they said Ohio, but why wouldn't you directly contact the owner and tell them about all this... unless i missed something. If i owned that house and rented it out via that company, i'd want to know about all the crap going on. Story 2: If you are "sort of" broken up at this point.... you may as well stay that way. This relationship is a trainwreck waiting to happen with the way she has been acting. I know i wouldn't want to get back with someone like that. No job/school, not willing to isn't good. The way she has fights/arguments almost seems like she's trying to cause issues for them.

OMG! We had a slumlord like that! I ended up having to take her to small claims court and got my deposit back and she had to pay court costs. It was 14 months of hell with bed bugs, sewage backup, kids threw rocks at sliding glass doors our first week there and we had to pay for it, toilets not attached, an AC that didn’t work properly….and so on! And she didn’t fix anything! She just tried blaming us for shit that was wrong upon move in! It was such a pretty home on the surface. Boy, were we wrong!!

2nd Story. The guy is trying everything to make it work but it looks lile she is not trying. She is being emotionally abusive and is holding marriage over the guy to keep him with her. Also, Girlfriend needs to show him her phone ASAP without any prep time. He is open with his phone so she should recipricate to build trust between the two. Also, in some cases, guarding the phone and accusing the other of cheating with no basis may be a sign of her cheating herself. People with abandonment or attention issues can often seek the attention of a 3rd party when they feel that their current partner is not fullfilling that in their life.

The last story: OP needs to stop with the "anxious attachment type" excuse and not only see the ex's toxic behaviour for what it is, but address it so. The ex has absolutely no issues mocking, belittling, and saying things that she knows will hurt the OP the very moment she doesn't get her own way. She didn't want a healthy and balanced relationship, she simply wanted the engagement and the wedding. Relationships are hard work at times, and take dedication to address issues, from what OP said they are willing to put in the work and acknowledged their flaws. The ex wasn't willing for longer than two months to try being a rational nor emotionally mature partner. I hope OP didn't get back with the ex because she seems to need a whole lot of personal therapy and perhaps several years to mentally and emotionally mature before she throws marriage and children into the mix. No child deserves to be born to an emotionally immature and irrational parent who has no qualms about saying spiteful and cruel things to those around them.

We are landlords and we keep our properties up. If there’s a problem, it’s taken care of. Our properties are our investment’s. Yes we’ve had to evict a few renters, but most of our renters have been good. We have some renters who have been renting one of our houses for 27 years. When something goes wrong, that tenant calls us, immediately and he enjoys fixing it himself. It’s always done to code. He sends us the receipt and deducts it from his rent. About 6 years ago he said that the carpet needed to be replaced as it was worn. I told him to go and pick out the carpet they wanted, as he did. It was more expensive than we have in our own home, but we paid for it. We paid for their furniture to be removed and replaced and put them in a hotel while it was being done. They have been excellent renters, so it was the least we could do. In 3 more years they will have paid off our house for us, plus the extra that we make on their rent. I have another lady who was renting an apartment when I bought the complex who had lived there for over 40 years. She was our renter for almost 23 years when she died.

The First Story reminds me of what's going on right now at my work So before it became Lowe's, the store was called RONA, and they had a furnace for every part of the store, but when it became Lowe's, the people who renovated the store to get rid of the furnace for the main entrance where the shopping carts are piled up. Well, that costs a major problem, every time we get Extreme Cold Temperatures, a water pipe for the Fire Sprinklers will freeze up and break, costing water to spread everywhere at the Main Entrance. Managers have been reporting it to the owner of the store and the landlord that we need to get the furnace setup for that part of the store. So when they checked over the summer of 2022, apparently we'll have to set up an AC to the furnace area because it was like an oven in there and if we have all 3 furnaces running, that can make it a bigger problem to the store, so we got an AC setup that way we can use it to keep the furnaces to cool down while running over the Winter Season, but then we found out a bigger problem, the AC that was setup was missing some parts, making it 100% useless. Work did report it and the company refused to fix the problem, sure enough on December 19th 2022, we had another pipe break at the same location, the main entrance. The damage was so bad we had to close off that door and set the Main Exit as the only way in and out of the store! Also the Team and I had to shovel the water out or else the water will spend everywhere around the store, the water was so bad that it was almost a foot deep. With that we had to open the door, force the water outside with the Temperature that felt like it was upto -40'C It happened around 4:30pm and it didn't stop until around 7pm, it was that bad. With that we dealt with it until close, lock up the doors until the next day, the next day we couldn't open the main entrance because it was frozen shut, and every water left behind was completely frozen including the shopping carts. We couldn't reopen the entrance because clean up was still needed and the doors were frozen shut. The worst part was that we had it closed all the way to Christmas 2022, right now I don't know if we have it reopened yet because I'm still on my Christmas break until January 9th 2023, I'll find out once I get back to work

I've never been a fan of abortion but understand that in some cases it may be necessary. That last story was certainly one of those cases. No child deserves to be brought up in that mess. In fact, that woman should never have children. Period.
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd Жыл бұрын
Disclaimer: I agree abortion is needed in certain cases. Now my opinion. I really don’t think this was one of those cases of it being needed. OP knew she was not on the pill and OP knew they did not want kids at the moment. So why go and engage in intercourse without protection? Heck I am not saying go full abstinence like many others would typically say. However, he really just went,”time to put my hand in the flames”. Like this was not a needed procedure if OP just wore protection. I say OP because the reality is this, if the gf is on the pill or not really does not matter. Why? 1) she could just lay about being on the pill tbh and 2) there are numerous things that mess with its effectiveness. So yeah was the abortion a wise move? Yeah only cause it protected OP from child support with the unhinged gf. However, was it necessary? No. Simple protection would of done the trick.

The last story… maybe it’s just an inkling, and I’m completely wrong, but I don’t think she’s being faithful. Constantly being combative, hiding her phone while demanding to search OP’s, being paranoid about them cheating, wanting to get married and having kids… I don’t think she’s being faithful. Maybe not physically, but emotionally. Why else would she hide her phone? Why else would she keep fighting with them, yet still stay with them? She wants someone stable, which is OP, but yet she’s not committing because she’s not being faithful. Either she’s cheating, or she wants all the nice things about a commitment, without being willing to do any prerequisites first. It’s one thing to be flawed; it’s another to be flawed, and not willing to change.
