My old engine was a highly tuned military 2.25 petrol from a FFR Landrover, and whilst travelling through Norway, the water pump gasket went. To this day (and yes, it's still going, albeit now in an ambulance) it has a gasket made out of a Cornflakes packet, which was the only thing I could get at the time...

Haha that's brilliant, just goes to show it does the job and pays to eat cornflakes.. or in my dad's case drink Budweiser 🤣

Good car accessory shops should sell gasket paper. Looks like brown wrapping paper but a little thicker. Very very cheap! Always pays to keep a few sheets just incase.

I used to have some knocking about in the garage for the motorbikes but I think it went a long time ago, a good sturdy box is as good in a pinch.
