It's amazing. He looks so effortless and like he's just sitting there, and then you really look at it and you see how many long and tedious hours have gone into that and you know it's not effortless even slightly, but a great rider makes it LOOK effortless.

I love this video so much! I also just watch the dressage one and I really noticed how people bash dressage! I love both dressage and jumping, I admit I do dressage way more than jumping but I'm sick of people calling dressage abuse!! Jumping can be just as bad!! It is how people treat the behind the scenes!!! I don't use spurs and I hate rollkur but I am still a dressage rider!!!!!!! Sorry had to get off my chest! XD

I mostly agree with this, it is all about the type of training you do with the horse. I've seen the videos of what some people have done to train, some is absolutely great, some is horrible. Also, some horses need spurs or they won't go, if you get the right spurs and use them correctly it won't hurt the horse. :)

WHat people don’t understand most of the time is that if the horse really didn’t wanna move, it would not move. You can’t force a horse to piaffe or jump over whatever. You don’t just sit on the horse and say “walk”. No. We literally need to have checklists in our brain EVERY second of riding

I love finally finding a video where no one is getting a pissy about how "their position isn't actually very good" etc. As long as the distances are good, the leg is stable and you're not coming up too early the position is fine xD by my experience more modern jumping training seems to focus a lot more on the back position etc AND THAT'S OK omfg.

Hey, I just wanted to say that most people who don't know a lot about this jumping type sport are probably thinking, "POOR THING! They are basically shoving something hard in their mouth and forcing it to jump! AHHH!!" Well, actually that's not the case. I've been riding horses long enough to know horses actually, like to work (not meaning that in they always have to work they totally like it.) When some people think about owning a horse, they (probably) imagine having it in a beautiful field while feeding tasty treats to the horse, and giving it the luxury life. Most people think they would be the best horse owner!!!! No No NO. Your horse would actually be very unhappy. Horses might love their freedom, but the love to work hard also. When you ride a horse, they like it because in their mind it's actually fun to challenge themselves. And this also keeps them healthy and strong. But, if you're reading this comment, that's not just how it works. Horses need their time to work and too need their time to rest. Sometimes, if you work a horse too hard, they can overheat. They can also become hyper almost. They can start behaving badly. This shows you might have worked them to hard. Usually, a great 3 to 2 hour ride is well enough. But if you're training 4 hours might be good also. If you're choosing 4 hours or 3 you might want to give your horse a bath, they sure can get sweaty!! What I'm trying to say is, these horses aren't being abused and forced to work over jumps. In some cases, that happens. But you have to remember that not all horses are treated badly.

honey ive been riding horses and actually working WITH horses long enough to know that NO, they don't want to fucking win omfg bhahahah. do you pay for horse whisperers to tell you that your horse wants a fuckig carrot, too? omfg. they NEED to be exercised, they do NOT need to be in the OFTEN times abusive, fucked up horse industry. Bits are NEVER nice, but most of them aren't the worst thing out there. get your head out of your ass. You do realize non-horse people are the main reason abuse in the horse industry exists right? (look at the Big Lick, rollkur in dressage, bearing reins in carriage horses, etc). You're literally feeding into it. excuse my french throughout this, im just sick of hearing this equestrian-in-denial absolute horseshit.
@sittingturtleduck
@sittingturtleduck 7 жыл бұрын
nope, you're right that the horses in this video are treated much better than most high-level horses. (nothing revolts me more than an in-denial-equestrian saying "the high-level horses get vEt CHeCkeD, sO thEy gEt the BesT cArE aNd aRe NEVER abUsed" yikes...)

The reality is that nothing is safe. Two years ago, a horse belonging to a friend of mine was killed in his top of the line paddock when he spooked. All it took was for him to not realize how close he was to the fence for him to knock his head on it hard enough to kill him. He was relaxing in his paddock. If we were to think along the lines of the animal rights activists, our animals would be incredibly unhappy. My late mare was happiest in the jump field. She thrived on competition and, on jumping day, you could see how incredibly excited she was. Her previous owner bought her as an evener (which is what I did with her) but her owner eventually drifted away from horses. She was a sad, sorry horse to look at but I bought her anyway because I knew her reputation. From the first day I took her back out into the jump field after getting her back in shape, she perked up and was a completely different animal. These high level horses WANT to jump. They LOVE what they do. Are there bad eggs in the sport? Of course. There are in every sport whether it involves animals or not. These horses are cared for very well and, although early deaths do sometimes happen, it can just as easily happen to a pasture pet as a top performer. So many of these horses live long lives and many of those I have known personally have competed at high levels until their mid-late teens then were used for lower levels by younger people wanting to learn the sport or to help boost someone's confidence by riding a super experienced horse. As they get older, their level gets lower until they are retired to live out their last few years in absolute comfort. As they aged, the horse's workload was adjusted to their condition and desire to work. Some decide that, when they're old, they don't want to do it anymore and they are allowed to be pasture ornaments with enough riding and exercise to keep them fit and healthy. Others express the desire to keep working and they may end up being the sturdy, faithful horse the grandkids ride and bump around the arena over some poles. These are old horses. My trainer's personal horse was 34 when his time came. These sports, when the horse is the priority, aren't going to put the majority of horses into an early grave. This sport is not one to be concerned about.

For all you haters saying this is an easy sport and that showjumping is rubbish, listen to this. Have you ever trusted your life into a different language creature? Have you ever put your life at risk to satisfy others? Have you ever trained for months on end and have people saying what you do is easy? Think hard about this before disliking.

Please try this test & share. “THE THREE POINT FRENCH TEST” 1. Allow your tongue to rest on the base of your mouth and then try to swallow. 2. This cannot be done unless the tongue makes contact with the roof of the mouth; thus creating a vacuum. 3. This vacuum is fundamental to either air entering the windpipe or food/saliva entering the gullet. A bit in the horse’s mouth holds the tongue down & prevents the vital vacuum switch from breathing/ swallowing & visa-versa.

so if that was the case all horses with a bit would be dead. horses are ridden or have a bit in their mouths for up to 2 hours and more. i dont think your facts are correct because no one could survive the long without swallowing and breathing..

***** This animal (the horse) which we say we ' love'. - Would you train a dog or cat in the same manner?. No; you would be put in prison for pulling any other animal around by its mouth; even if they had the misfortune to have teeth which allowed a steel rod in the mouth. As for saying the bitless bridle causes as much injury as a bitted bridle; if you really love your horse & want a practical and truthful answer go to..... drcook@bitlessbridle.co.... This gives the answer - from a veterinary surgeon who has dedicated his life to proving the effects any bit has on a horse. And do consider that Bitless bridles is a non profit making organisation instigated to find a kinder way with horses.

***** Any device in the hands of 'man' can become a thing of torture. The idea of a bitless bridle is to use no pressure. Horse respond to touch. Their response to pressure is to push or pull against pressure.that's why horses are called "Into Pressure animals" they automatically push or pull against pressure. Riding should be from the legs and also from weight displacement in the saddle; not from pressure applied to the reins.
