Hello Bairnt! I first learned of your channel many years ago when you did excellent playthroughs of my favorite game: folklore: the affliction. I wanted to tell you that after a rough year in 2024, I decided not to put it off anymore and finally realize a life long dream of making my own board game. I am going into this as a complete newbie but I have two goals. One is to actually finish the thing! The second is to have you play it!! My hope is the second one will motivate me when things get tough along the way. You have become somewhat of a board game hero to me! And it all started back with Folklore. I’m new to the hobby and am thinking of buying a table for my board gaming needs. I don’t have a lot of space to work with at home and was considering buying a foldable 3’x3’ table. As a second question, do you think a table of that size (3’x3’) would fit most board games?

You’re so welcome. My table is 5 feet by 3 feet. You could probably fit this game on a 3 x 3 table. As for other games I like big games so not many of the ones I play would fit a 3x3. It’s hard because of space issues. Not only do you need room for games but a table for them as well. 😃😃👍

Uh oh.. Another game I didn't know about that I'm now suddenly very interested in... I really like the story decisions and am curious if decisions make a huge difference in the end (IE: prioritizing saving the healer's assistant or not). I also really like the flow of combat and how other players/characters can 'act' when it's not their turn with support skills. And finally, for terrible rollers like myself, the Fate tokens are really nifty! Looking forward to seeing more on the game!

Hi Bairnt, Great playthrough BTW, looks like AR will be taking even more of my money! 💰 🤑 At 1:00:30, you used Exceptional Endurance to block 2 attacks from 2 mud creatures. Are you allowed to use the same card on multiple enemies; or do you have to use 2 separate cards? Im assuming it's because they attacked at the same time? Also, I found your table layout and space helpful as well! 👍👌

Thank you glad you enjoyed it. I am honestly not 100% that I did that correctly. From how the prototype rules are written I felt that was the intention. If not it would have still ended in victory so not the end of the world. Sorry I can't give you a perfect answer on that.

How LOS work in this game. Because the way I see it, the murderer don't have LOS on neither the heros when he attack with magic bolt

Great question. The rules on LOS are a little weird and I’m not sure if I played them right. From what I can tell there are not many LOS rules but if you saw a line to an enemy that goes through a double line they get cover instead of not being able to see them. ATO is a 1/2 boss battler collecting resources and powering up your ship and crew. Lands of Evershade is quite a different game. Very character focused and the choices of your character shape the story that you play. Combat is quick and moves back to the story fast. But would think it more like tainted grail or kings of ruin. Question: If a character you've chosen to do a test, and your other character assist in a roll and rolls 1, does that assistant character take a fate token?, if he is only the assistant that rolled 1 on a help die, not the main character you chosen.

Loved the play through a lot! Seems a great game, probably better (for my taste) than story of many (which I didn't back up). Few concerns A. It's a game with plenty of useless minis, you don't need them but we know AR. easily resolved with standee. B. Always worried with choice/no choice with AR, I hope is not going to be another tainted grail where you just collect ticks on a sheet C. Length of the game. AR is famous for long games that could be probably better if they were cut in half (iss vanguard love it but my god the end drags too much) What are your thoughts? Do you think that getting all those fate tokens makes it a bit too easy? I wonder if only getting a fate token when the roll is a fail overall would be better. In fact I wonder about limiting it to one token per roll.

-nice info on the game. -I don't have access to the rules but the card attack says 1 in R1 so when you used the hammer and attacked all enemies I feel that was incorrect. -when you do that high pitch voice and stuff it's very creepy.

You’re welcome glad it helped you out. I needed to be more clear. I used two different actions to do 2 different attacks one was “bash” and the other was my normal “attack” hope that makes sense. Good thing that my creepy voice came out about Halloween time 😃😃👍

I’m curious about something combat related: are you supposed to roll to attack for enemies AND then roll to defend (if you choose), or do enemy attacks just hit and you roll to defend? It looks like you do the latter, but I’ve seen the game played both ways so far. Frankly, just rolling to defend makes more sense to me. Either way, good vid! Cheers

That is a great question!!! The rules to this game are considered a “living document.” The document I have says “Enemies do not make any attack rolls: if your Character does nothing when attacked (uses no Reaction), they suffer the full effects of the attack” so this is how I played it. I feel there is good replayability here many of the decision are based on the keywords you have and each race background and profession has there own set of them. I haven't played more than the Act 1 and im sure it is more railroaded then any other missions

I can’t say how the game will develop but the first Act is very railroaded! I don’t think there is any way to not get to the conclusion we had. Other Acts could develop differently and lead you to different experiences but I don’t know

I have played way more fiddly games. I will look through the other boards but I like that they have actions you can do based on where fighting. It is supposed to be simple and fast so you can get back to the story. I’ll be doing Act 2 which will probably have more combat that might give you more insight. Thanks for the great comment 😃😃👍

Bigger combats will take place in bigger zones (multiple sheets). I was afraid of combat but I am pleased with what I see here with one side of your board for attacks and one side for defense, just enough to think a little and have some strategy.

You are correct but based on your successes or straight up failure the enemy will move farther from you. So yes the same thing is read but that enemy is escaping if you roll poorly. Hope that makes Sense. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
