The second part of my trip to Assynt in Scotland. Photographing landscapes is more than just pointing the camera at a wonderful view and clicking away. There has to be a connection and the viewer needs to see that connection in your images. So, there's more to an image than just what you see. It's important to capture how the landscape makes you feel as well.

I can't express with words how I feel about your vlog... Almost every single one of them is like attending a workshop. You not only have the ability to SEE the images, but also tell other what you saw and how you saw it so we can go out in our own adventures and try to capture all the beauty this vast world has to offer. Please keep it up!!!

Great video, really like the square format images, they work really well and Its something I rarely think about when looking for a composition, I tend to think only in portrait and landscape probably as thats all Ive ever shot. So I will definitely make an effort to 'think square' the next time Im out and about. Thank you, youre an inspiration.

Couldn't agree more! Craig Roberts' e6 was my first subscription to anything KZbin and was absolutely the reason I went and bought my first DSLR. I love the way he presents his vlogs. His manner and the tempo of the videos make them a pleasure to watch and learn from. This video is one of my favorites for its honesty and the way he approaches the scene in front of him; working harder to get a unique image from an obviously awe inspiring vista. The image where the rocks mimic the mountains is a classic example of hard work being rewarded with a result that puts a smile in your mind. Magic!

Nicely done Craig, I wasn't so keen on the images early in the video - the mountains were too far in the distance but the ones around the Loch were brilliant, and not too pretty. Very jealous that you got to spend time in Assynt. I did a whistle stop day tour as an 'extra' on the way home from Lewis a couple of years ago. You reminded me why I wanted to go back.

Very nice creative processing. I watch your channel for a while now and I love the simplicity in which you tell the story and your thinking process. In this video in particulary, I found out that I share the same idea as you, Craig. I'm not the photographer that seeks the sunset or sunrise. In most days I just grab my camera and tripod and go out to take a walk and watch the city. When someting catch my eyes, I start to think the compostion and take the shot. Everywhere there's a photograph opportunity. Thanks again for the amazing content! Cheers from Brazil

really nice photography Craig , and i liked your explanation of your view points of landscape photography and i concur , i think we should all work a little harder to be unique , there is beauty in the landscape without a sunrise and sunset .. i quite like the emptiness of the lakes though, i thought it offered a contrast to mountains, trees and rocks and helped bring out the features of the other elements in the scene.... the 3/4 image you showed us, with the fallen tree in the foreground when you changed position i thought was money:) .. really really beautifully captured ... looking forward to your next vid .. and ditto to chris eastty's comment

Guess you're right in your outlook, like light trails over London Bridge or looking towards St. Paul's, with many photos around photographers must find another way of viewing. which can also mean a greater chance for self-expression. The words of a shrugging Oliviero Toscani looking at a contestant's photo I thought was okay on a Master of Photography also come back to warn whenever I think there might be a good view to shoot - 'nice postcard'. Wasn't a compliment. Great video as usual - like that I had to pause for laughter!

fab vlog as usual so thumbs up from me Craig. I was interested on your adapter for your polariser, I work with the 7/5 kit as well and the rather expensive polariser that comes in the kit is completely useless with a wide angle lens, so I think I will have to follow your lead and rig one up for myself. be interesting to see how you rigged yours up Craig, looks like a couple of screws and a wee bit of glue perhaps?

I liked his reflections on the importance you give to the search of an original composition, rather than to capture the light in a sunset or sunrise. My case is around, but for other issues, I have become fond of the extremes of light, mostly because is the time I have left for work and family reasons, but when I occasionally sell some of my landscapes, for decoration especially, people prefer what I do during the day, I think it's mostly because it's not a race against The sun compositions are more studied, without such haste. But we must recognize that a fiery sky impresses at first glance. Changing the subject, would a video of how the light measures when it shoots in analogy? Remember a video that shot with a yashica mat and used filters, where will it be?

I like the one at 9:32 the best. How do you deal with non 4:3 e.g. the 1:1 square format while shooting? You have stickers at the camera back display, some kind of lens filter-like attachment. Or form factor comes to you afterwards; e.g. at post processing?
@e6Vlogs

I shoot square format in-camera. The Olympus has this option. It's NEVER an afterthought!
@dimitristsagdis7340
@dimitristsagdis7340 6 жыл бұрын
So you can see the square in the viewfinder when you select this option and the rest (edges) go black? By the way, I Didn't say It was an afterthought, just that if you haven't got that option in camera you have to do it afterwards during post-processing.
@e6Vlogs
@e6Vlogs 6 жыл бұрын
Dimitris Tsagdis yes square in viewfinder and on LCD screen. By afterthought, i mean its pre-planned at the shooting stage, even if i had to crop later, that’s the important thing.

Your attempt to inject humor into your videos is quite frankly offputting. When I first found your channel I was happy to have found someone who made videos that were educational and beautiful.
