Great video Nathan. I hope you'll be able to rescue the camera and lens. I once was shooting at Prevelly Beach and was hit by a monster wave. I had to hold my tripod up above my head. The next time looking through the viewfinder was a camera bag going out to sea. The new rule is to leave my camera bag well away from where I am shooting.

I had a faulty tripod that released the my Canon onto the rocks and it floated off into the ocean. I wasn't near it at the time but managed to get to it as it was sinking. I instantly dried it with my clothes then when I got back to my motorhome, dampened a cloth with water and wiped the camera, then gave it a thorough clean with lens cleaning solution and the camera still worked. The weather sealing was exceptional. I hope Sony's is as good.

It's pretty incredible for a camera to survive that! Wow. From what I have heard, Sony are great for any water coming in from the top, but the plate at the base of the camera isn't as well sealed, so in my case it should be ok!

Did it with my A7iii and my A7iv. That sinking feeling is not good. I wiped them down and with a cloth of fresh water cleaned them up and no issues for years and still going strong. Good luck

Good to hear! Mine all seems fine so hopefully no corrosion in the long term!

Well done, nice video. The camera should be fine. I’ve got 10 year Canon 6D that has been to hell and back. Little bit of corrosion in the hot shoe and that’s all. I’ve been soaked many, many times. As long as your lenses are weather sealed ( which I think yours is ) the camera should be OK. A fresh water cloth will become your best friend at the end of a day. Look forward to some more videos 👌🏼

Thanks mate! My old Nikon D850 copped a fair bit of salt water and was once even submerged in a freshwater creek for a few seconds. It survived all of that! My biggest worry was that they might not make them like they used to! Cheers

Hi Nathan - I shoot a lot out at the coast where I live (Eastern Canada). A soaking wet camera with salt spray is definitely a hazard. You've done a good first job with getting it dried off and cleaning the salt water residue from everything. Oh, and don't forget the tripod too! Good luck with it all. Keep up the good work and great photos! Cheers mate.

Thanks a lot Alan! I generally try to rinse the tripod after photography by the coast with fresh water every time, and then once every few months I'll pull it apart to clean & re-grease the threads too! Cheers
