The light in Patagonia can be truly special and on this occasion we were not disappointed. We photographed sunset and sunrise just outside of El Chalten in Argentina. The plan was to photograph Fitzroy, however it seems that this was the only spot not glowing in glorious light. My favourite image was a panorama of a mountain range to the south, a truly beautiful moment.

Sir Thomas Heaton, I’m a fan from Brazil living in Argentina and I’m writing just to tell how much I appreciate your videos. These Patagonia’s videos in special as they are being a delicious revival of the trip that I did two months ago for the same region photographing the very same location that you are showing here. Please continue producing these amazing contents and inspiring us to live a better life!

Looks like the cats who marched off to seek out something away from the roadside did the right thing and they get some exercise. That rang from that road in that light probably exists in endless versions. Always enjoy the stories. I'd love weather numbers, time/temp wind direction perhaps the long lat.

Tom, I think perhaps the best part of this video (and really, the best part is from 00:00 to 11:17, it's just a great vid overall) is the fact that, for the first time that I can recall, you ran around like a chicken with your head cut off, crazily trying to grab every photo, beckoned by the beguiling, changing light! I loved that! Because, that's me! Unlike your usual, calm-Tom M.O., I haven't often managed the discipline of sticking with a composition. Suddenly it's better there, then there, then there... And often I miss everything, the old composition, and the "better" one which I'm desperately trying to set up for and catch. Of course, you caught a bunch of them - maybe some day I'll have the expereince and technique. But it was SO great seeing you caught up in the moment(s) of awesomeness, excited and invited by it. Loved it!

I need to remember this if I ever get a photo opportunity like the one you had with that mountain with the sun in the background. Take a first photo, exposing for the clouds. Then cover the sun with your hand to prevent light bleed as much as possible, and take a second photo exposing for the road and mountain. Combine in Photoshop, see what comes out.
