Landscape Plein Air Oil Painting Demo

Oil painting demonstration of a rolling landscape & chalk path in the summer. I explain how to mix colours including greens and at each stage of the painting I give a description of what I'm doing and why. It's early morning with lovely shadows across the path which I also demo too!

Hello Claire and Mr. B. Welcome back both of you. It is nice to see both working hard and enjoying the sunshine together in s beautiful landscape setting in West Sussex. Which I know is one of your favourite places to visit along the South Coast. I really appreciated watching you painting this lovely landscape view and listening to your commentary about the format and the colours you were choosing and mixing on your pallette. The most amazing thing about this landscape is that it sounded like a very active place, with numerous people out walking with their dogs or their families. Also the air itself was active with helicopters and planes flying overhead, but not at any point did you allow that noise and bustle to shake your confidence or your communication with us, the viewers. Despite all that went, you managed to create a very lovely painting and the colours are amazing. I learned too that one does not need to paint everything one sees in the landscape because, "Its too complicated..." It was interesting to note how you made the foreground tree the main focus and you omitted anything that was not necessary to contribute to the overall composition. Thank you Clare and Mr. B., for this excellent video as I loved every minute. Take care now, Looking forward to more of the same in the next one. Cheers. 😊💯👍🖐️🍺🌹

This was a lot of fun to watch, as well as very relaxing. For a hectic day like mine was, this was the perfect antidote, in that way that art forces me to slow down, whether I'm messing around with my own stuff, or simply watching and observing. There's something almost magical about your and Mr. B's dynamic. He interjects questions like a very interested, informed outsider, and you both take turns being proud of each other. You do an amazing job of explaining your process, and it looks like you've conquered the issue of changing light. Needless to say, the painting itself turned out great, and it was fun watching how it evolved from start to finish. Great stuff!

Serendipity strolled my way this morning here in the Adirondacks! I happened upon this particular video in my feed of this gorgeous chalk path painting. Yesterday, I made the jump to a 12 by 36 inch canvas featuring as my focal point a beautiful gravel road with puddles used as an access road to a fishing site on the St. Lawrence River nearby where I grew up. I had wondered if by choosing the road as my focal point was a mistake but when I saw your painting and the view of the path as your topic of interest, I knew I made the right decision!
