uhh i kinda got it right bevore he showed it but thats cuz i study the video and the live version where you see josh dun drumming but then i found him god blesssss i always addet 1 hi hat more and instead of 2 kicks i dit 3 like this O *** O cO O *** O cO O= kick c= snare *= hi hat but it goes on and on

I just want to point out since this confused me. On the first fill you showed us at 3:10, you played it differently when you played it up to speed than when you played it slowly.

WOW! i actually played this song wrong the whole time!! Thanks for teaching this song, finally i know what hes doing in the fills ;] btw, how do you figure out those fast beats? do you use programs/editing that help you ear the drums better, or its just you by earing?

Happy to help out with those fills! I don’t use any programs particularly but I sometimes use KZbin’s 0.75 or 0.5 speed function for fast fills. I probably make a few mistakes here and there but I try to get it as close as I can with just my ears!

1:00 Sorry, i just started playing drums but aren't those 8th notes and then you add the 16th notes with your left hand?

It’s a 16th note hi hat groove with one hand and then you add 32nd notes with the left hand. A “standard” rock beat would have 8th notes on the hats so this is twice as fast with the right hand.

It depends on who is playing it to be honest xD, on the record the hats are closed. Sometimes Josh will have it open live. Personally, I leave the hats open during that part but it's however you want to do it! Hope this helps!

I'm curious about this, because everywhere I check, it says this song has a BPM of 160, which means it's 8th notes on the hi hat not 16th notes. 16th notes seem to fit better to me, and play it at a temp of 80bpm, but realistically I think that is incorrect.

+Z3Rocker77 Yeah good point! I'm definitely no music theory purist, so I figure as long as it makes sense and is fairly neat to read it doesn't matter if it's in halftime or full time. I do try to gauge whether it "feels" like halftime or not but I'd say I don't always get it right 😄

i am so confused. i really want to start playing drums but i have no idea how to start out. i dont have them yet so do you have any suggestions for drums for beginners? not to expensive just so i can test it out. and drums mainly to do tøp covers. thanks😊

Well to start out you can just use a practice pad, or even a bunch of old towels, pillows or tshirts - just to help you get the coordination up and happening. Then when you're looking at a kit, just depends on budget. I usually recommend to try to get a "name brand" even if it's just their cheapest version or 2nd hand, just because the brand names are generally pretty solid and will sound ok with a new set of heads. Hope that helps!
