Finally used this feature on my 2018 MDX. The LKAS requires you to touch the steering wheel every 15 seconds if you take your hands off. Still a nice feature on a long drive.

Thanks for the feedback! It is meant to assist you as you hold on. They don't want people to rely on it I guess.

They aren't the smoothest, but for a company like Honda and Acura (whom are so cautious with liability) to push these first iterations to market, it is impressive in my opinion. With each new generation, they will get better. In the meantime, expect manufacturers to include them more and more.

Tried the feature on my Mdx. Didn't line it. Took the truck way to the edge of the lane.

what is the tolerance around turns to know if it needs to be re calibrated?
@NathanAdamsCars4 жыл бұрын
There should be a test for that at the dealership service department. I have not experienced that process before though. In my TLX, it would maintain the lane around most curves at highway speed (especially if you slow down to safety speed for sharper curves when a caution sign is there) but if you drive too fast, it will struggle to keep up with the curves. That is normal because it is designed to provide gentle assistance and not drive for you like Tesla’s Autopilot. Even Autopilot has limitations and shouldn’t be relied on, so it’s worthwhile to test out different cars or ask around at different dealers to get a good idea. There are lots of variations of the Acura systems; newer higher level models also have RDM which will stop you if it detects you’ve left the road for too long - but again these are all reactive systems. It’s hard to determine an exact tolerance since it depends on so many circumstantial variables.

Hi, I have a 2017 Acura RDX with Advanced package. The lane keep assist feature is not so sensitive while on a curve on the left hand side i.e the curve that goes from 9 O’Clock to 12 O’Clock position. It crosses the left lane and most of the time it does not pull the car back in although the lane departure warning is constantly beeping. It works fine for the road that curves in the opposite side. Can you please suggest me in this regard? Thanks!

jange26 I don’t remember encountering that problem with my TLX. Sometimes I had to initiate the steering for a curve before it held it all the way through. It could be a calibration issue or it could be fine. Have you taken it to a dealer to ask them? Also, it might steer more intensely away from the right side because that’s where cars are more likely to be next to you (assuming you’re in the passing lane)
