A few times a year I have to go work in one of the medical buildings near Langer’s and it’s always been bad but just keeps getting worse and worse. Filth everywhere, people either being super aggressive or stumbling around like zombies, and tons of street vendors selling drugs right on the sidewalk alongside innocuous looking stuff like socks and deodorant (or unrefrigerated shrimp out of a cardboard box 😬) making it difficult to walk. I’ve been followed in broad daylight multiple times, once by a man aggressively trying to get me to smoke meth with him. Anytime I do see cops around there they aren’t doing a damn thing. It could be such a nice park if they cleaned the area up, but as of now it reminds me of the depictions I’ve seen of NYC in the ‘70s. It’s sad.

Imagine if MacArthur Park was completely shut down and fenced off like how Echo Park was. Then, keep it closed, clean it up, revitalize the entire area for the next 3 1/2 years. In 2028, the LA Olympics. Tourists get to experience the food at Langer's Deli. Maybe the owner can temporarily move Langer's to another location? For as long as I can remember, that area has always been a rough area. High crime, not the best place. However, Langer's is one of those businesses that shuts down by like 4pm. McArthur Park right across the street.

Have to say sad to hear about the times in that area but hopefully they can get some help if private security armed can help at his restaurant can make a difference communication is always good on all levels safety and cleanliness is what keeps customers. Pray for wisdom in final decision when it's all said and done is my advice.

I haven't lived in LOST Angeles for over a decade now, but I'm livid that Langer's might be shutting down for good! 😠 My frickin' grandparents used to eat there alot, so it's kind of sad to hear about this! 🥺 They should move to San Diego, or somewhere in the OC where the locals would welcome them with open arms! (as long as it's not in the homeless-populated areas of downtown...)

I love Langers! They have the best french dip in LA. And MacArthur Park Lake is such a beautiful place to enjoy nature in the middle of the bustling city. My husband and I used to play backgammon on a quilt, surrounded by families and decent city folk relaxing on a weekend. Seymour, your Compton hat is the best! All of these things must be preserved and appreciated before they vanish.

As a teen, (1969)I used to work up the street when there were actual stores. Every SATURDAY the boss would buy lunch, and of course it was from Langers. The area used to be decent, nowadays, not so much. It's been awhile since I had breakfast at Langers. Think I'll drop in a couple days.

I always wanted to go there but to be honest, I never ended up going because of the sketchy area and parking. When I asked my friends to go they also say the same concerns and don't want to go, especially girls. If they just move to a different location, it would do so well!!
