Imagine if MacArthur Park was completely shut down and fenced off like how Echo Park was. Then, keep it closed, clean it up, revitalize the entire area for the next 3 1/2 years. In 2028, the LA Olympics. Tourists get to experience the food at Langer's Deli. Maybe the owner can temporarily move Langer's to another location? Doesn't the government have any special powers to shut down the park - like cleaning up a polluted environment?

There's a plan to bulldoze Wilshire where it cuts through the park and return the park to its original street-free design. Now, the City Council/Mayor, could fence off entire park during construction and take a very long time to complete the project. But, like they care.

MacArthur Park has been that way for DECADES. The whole neighborhood for blocks around Langers looks like a 3rd world country. Also, look at the food prices at Langers. That is the reason why they are going to close soon. Who wants to pay $24 for just a pastrami sandwich? That's absolutely crazy.

As a teen, (1969)I used to work up the street when there were actual stores. Every SATURDAY the boss would buy lunch, and of course it was from Langers. The area used to be decent, nowadays, not so much. It's been awhile since I had breakfast at Langers. Think I'll drop in a couple days.
