I am from Oldbury, left in 1980 and have lived in Denmark/Sweden since then. I went to Britannia High School in the 70s, which was a half decent school back then with some excellent teachers, I owe a lot to them. A good education makes all the difference.

Hello Adam. Reminds me of when I was a little girl. We didn’t have much (was 4 kids, I’m the oldest) but my parents always did stuff outside the house that didn’t cost anything,. Most important was we were all together. Every Sunday we’d go for a drive. I was always looking for little animals (rabbits, squirrels, cows, chickens, etc). I still enjoy going for drives just to be out. Brings back wonderful memories. The old school was really cool looking. Other bldgs I saw that I thought looked wonderful was the white bldg that had glass squares going vertically on either side of doorway. It also had graduating circles (small to larger) also either side of doorway! Just a couple bldgs down was a brick bldg w/ a mossy green “trim” on street level floor & 3rd level. 2nd floor was mostly brick. It had a turret looking end where doorway was, that led above the roof w/ dome @ top. I’m sorry, trying my best to explain them, haha. Anyway, there were a few more but I won’t bore u w/ the details, haha. Thanks again, Adam. These driving ones r a nice break here & there. Plus I get to see what the area really looks like & I appreciate ur hard work & dedication. PS: maybe u ought to read this comment just before bedtime so it can help put u to sleep, haha 🤣🤣. Take care 😉

Yes, I believe the large white building is the Gurdwara on Smethwick high street. There is a large Sikh community around here as many came over from places such as India after the war and beyond to help work in our manufacturing industries etc. They also played an important role in the wars for our country and they have settled well and subsequent generations have been successful. We are a very multicultural area indeed. Thanks again for watching and for your comments. Take care, Adam :)
