Bagpipes: continuous, variable ejective phonation where the "glottis" pressure is the same motion as performing an arm-fart. Why not use artificial wind? There's more articulatory freedom with human muscles and a big bladder as opposed to some fan or pump, which will also be impossible to use without some sort of vibrato effect caused by the cycles of the fan blades or the pump reversing back and forth. In my experience you still need a good amount of diaphragm or glottal pressure to get the air into the bag because it's still being squeezed - keeping the notes steady isn't hard, it's like driving clutch you forget you're doing it until you're put in an automatic (or a trumpet) Practice chanters: the saving grace of pipers everywhere.
