Great video, Jason! What an opportunity you had to hang out with Lanny. It's no wonder he's had the success that he's had- such a giver.

I got Larry's book when I was 12 and after that, we never received snow in deer season, at least while I lived in NY. Back in NY and can't wait to hunt the ADKs and try my hand at tracking..Thank you for the video and would love more tips. I'm dying to learn this style of hunting. I don't even care if I need to practice after deer season without a gun.

My father has one of the original Benoit books. How To Bag The Biggest Buck Of Your Life by Larry Benoit. I can remember as a little kid, probably 6-8 yrs old going through that book cover to cover hundreds of times. Looking at all the pictures of huge bucks Larry and Lanny had shot up to that point. I’m 45 yrs old now and to this day In my opinion Lanny Benoit is at the top of the list of best Deer hunters to ever do it. And has always been my idol. I’m envious of you for being able to spend all that time with him. I can’t even imagine…. That’s awesome ! You’re very lucky.

I've seen a lot of hunting videos and have to say, lanny is the 🐐 in deer tracking. Met him a few times at the Worcester Ma Sportsman Show, watched all there videos and books. One of the things that stood out to me is he mentioned once the deer feeds and beds down it needs to chew its cud. If you interrupt him doing that, he'll run aways lay back down again so you have to recognize that and be ready to shoot. Although I love snow tracking it doesn't work in my area of Massachusetts because you push the deer into stand hunters.

He taught me that as well. I recommend finding a bigger piece property to hunt to get away from people, if tracking is what you want to do. Lots of public land in Mass. I hope there is snow there in December this year.

I had a for and a huge buck run thru a field and stop, pulled my gun up and put it on him so I thought. I couldn't see his rack.lifted my head up,he turned and yep that was him. Never got a shot at him. Followed up the hill and the whole ridge was torn up from him. Scrapes, rubs. Never forget that day! Still don't have a big buck on the wall. Maybe someday?

Love the videos. I’m into trout fishing and deer hunting. Read all the books from benoits and Hal blood. Still haven’t tracked a buck down yet. Bucket list item of mine. I’m in Fonda NY so not far from the ADKS myself. Only have one ADK buck under my belt 2 yr old 8pt. I wanna learn to read tracks and track down bucks. I feel it’s more hunting than sitting in a tree by a field but that’s just me.

I have family that lives in Fonda. You should be proud of any ADK buck. Learning to read tracks will definitely increase your odds and tracking is exciting whether it works out or not. You know you have a buck in front of you the whole time.
