This is the best damn system I've ever used. I have the upgraded type. They are great and I get shaving sharp results everytime.

Nice to see you put out a video. Man has been sharpening metal blades on rocks since we learned to make metal. This system is meant to be a guide, not a machined edge. I prefer the rocks of AR by hand. It works if you have patience.

I'm not sure if you'll see this, but only a few months ago (being Janurary of 2020) I decided completely against going to college in pursuit of being an electrician. I had originally thought it was just wiring up houses and whatnot, but after watching a few of your videos, it's really inspired me to become an electrician so I just wanted to send you a thank you for what I hope to be a life long career. I'm 17 right now, 18 in may

I might have to grab one of these. I sharpen by hand, but my angle isn't always consistent, which often leads to an extra hour of re-shaping until I get it right. As much as I want to master the art of hand sharpening, it's in the air. lol. Side note: I wish you'd do more vids. Probably the best tool channel on youtube. I miss the content. You owe it to us, bro. I demand more vids. :)

If you want a tighter grip with the vice, roll that philips screw first and do it so it's just lightly gripping, then use the thumb screw and tighten it up, you can fine tune it by looking at the jaws and ensuring they are nice and flat against the blade, if there's a gap at the front, the front screw is too tight, if there's a gap at the back, it's too loose, just back off the thumb screw, adjust the front one slightly, then tighten the thumb one back up and have another look. you can make it so flush and tight on there that it's not gonna budge

You are SO FUCKING COOL man... I love how you provide every single tool for your job so the company literally fucks all the other working people because you show it should be attainable by them!!! God you're awesome, great electrician too I can tell by the terminology you use you are the sharpest TOOL in the shed! I hope you continue to weaken the working class by bringing power tools and socket sets to the job so your company doesnt have to provide them!!!!

I’ve had mine for like 5 or 6 years. Hate it. Only keep it for the stones. Always got a better edge by hand. Some dmt diamond stones are the way to go but much more expensive

DMT are nice but there's other diamond plates. I got some thin plates out of China for like $5 a piece. I just glued them to some scraps of acrylic. I got some big ass plates too. They're like 3x9" A shame we can't get anything from there anymore. Americans are too greedy so stuff costs too much.

Mate, it's bloody good to hear from you! 👌🏽 Not a bad kit, all things considered. 😉 Something that easy to use and simple to set up is always a thumbs up. 👍🏽 You could always make a slightly bigger case from wood and keep that one in it. Take care, mate. 🤘🏽

I have this set, and I can't seem to get a good edge on any kitchen knife. I can't say it's trash but it's at least 10% smarter than I am because I can't figure it out.

Yeaahhh. I have tried and tried, the damn edge on a knife is so hit or miss it's awful. There's not that much slop in the angle, not sure what I do wrong... but obviously it's pretty significant.

7:37 - funny youd say that, I bought this kit but with a super course instead of serration sharpener, the wires do have a flat spot where the set screw tightens down. I only bought mine about 3 months ago, looks like the same garbage plastic, hard to say if yours is just the latest money saving ploy or maybe you got an older set and they're flattening it now to improve the product.

Pretty sweet. Ceramics are cool. The other stones I don't know. I use diamond plates today. They're the stuff. I use cheap plates I got direct out of China. Before COVID.

I was just thinking about it and if I had that kit I'd epoxy some wooden handles to them stones. Probably get a better stroke with some more length. More of the ze artist effect going on with some handle. Of course nothing would fit in that case anymore so a good excuse to throw it away.

I almost wouldn’t buy it just based on the case alone. I’ve never seen a case with such a bad warp. The cast aluminum doesn’t impress me either. The 5 rods is unnecessary I suppose if you were leaving it set up in the corner of your workshop then maybe. But for a portable kit, It just adds to the price. I like the concept of it but that’s lacking a lot of quality :(

You really think 5 bent pieces of wire is adding a lot to the cost of the kit?
@_P0tat07_
@_P0tat07_ 4 жыл бұрын
Paul Frederick I’m studying manufacturing, so yes. It has to be uncoiled, straightened, bent, finished/plated. Might not seem like it would add much, and it shouldn’t, but a company is going to profit from whatever they can.
@1pcfred
@1pcfred 4 жыл бұрын
@@_P0tat07_ machines to work that wire would have a cyclic rate up there with machine guns. Somewhere in the 500+ rounds a minute range. Although to plate them you would have to have someone pick them each up and wire them. But who knows they might have a vibrator that does that too? All told labor and materials it can't be costing them a dollar a set.
