These extraordinary silent, Super 8mm home movies from the Vietnam War, come from a member of the "Ravens". The Raven Forward Air Controllers, also known simply as The Ravens, were fighter pilots used for forward air control in a covert operation in conjunction with the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States in Laos during America's Vietnam War. The Ravens provided direction for most of the air strikes against communist Pathet Lao targets and People's Army of Vietnam's infiltrators in support of the Laotian Hmong guerrilla army.

Thanks for sharing; that brings back lots of memories. I was one of them fighters during the Indochinese war. Ravens are great friends in the battle and elsewhere; they were true heroes.

Oh, yes, nobody but the ravens fought the war in Laos. You all seem to forget the enlisted men who serviced your aircraft, the trail watch teams who went in on the ground to spot targets or the combat controllers who told you when, what and where. I was one of the combat weather men who provided you with essential weather info for your daily flights. I remember, before 1965 anybody who get an O-1 off the ground flew missions, not just officers!

Terrific footage and great liner notes above in the heading. It is wonderful to see the detailed descriptions of what ordinance was dropped and that it was taken from a Raven O-1. Thanks for this gem! I have a friend who won the Silver Star (the 3rd highest award for valor) as an SF team sergeant in Laos during Operation White Star II.

Rare, very dramatic video. Per capita, the most heavily bombed country ever. If only it was just any troops affected. Why are kids still being killed today from unexploded ordinance?

Watched a few of these working out up north....then ran into a gaggle of guys hours later stumbling down the roadway...when we passed them...they were carrying ak's, sk's and rpg's....was on a drunken field trip.....we waved, they waved back.....about 2 or 3 k's down the road came two 10 ton'ers with gub'ment troops storming down the middle of the road headed right for them....wonder how that ended up?
