@blakebenke934010 ай бұрын
Yeah, but don’t be delusional & convince yourself you make that an hour. That’s what contractors want you to believe to motivate you & boost your ego so you think what you’re doing is worth it. If you got caught on route that day & didn’t get finished til say 4:30 then are you still “averaging” that same amount an hour ? Exactly. I promise you if you went to your contractor and said, “You know what? I’d like to get paid $35 an hour versus my rate per stop.” He would turn around and counter you at $18-$21 an hour real quick.

However if I do 200 stops a day(for example) and the sum of that multiplied by 1.20(1.50 on Mondays) is greater, then I get that instead. After watching your videos, I even sometimes just want to quit my job and become a FedEx driver lol, but I'm 41 years old and live on Long Island, NY so I feel like it would be tougher for me due to my age (not having as much energy) and most likely having to work longer hours &/or weekends on top of that. Not sure I could handle it all but I do like the gig you have going. I've been with FedEx since 2017. I felt like a shitbag because I kept switching contractors for the first several years. I've worked for 5 different contractors. I was fired from one for bitching about safety defects, got fired for poor performance by another one, and fired a third time because I engaged in a petty argument with an Express employee while waiting for my 18:00 pickup to open I ALMOST left the network all together but decided to took one last stab at it. I got taken on as a driver for an AO who described himself as "The best contractor in the region". Within a few months, I became one of the top drivers in our company and was making more money than I ever had before. I was promoted to BC in Jan 2021. Within weeks of being promoted, corporate pulled our contract. Within hours, I was inundated with job offers from contractors trying to get in on the territory that my AO had just lost. For the first time in my life, I was in a position to turn down job offers I felt were undesirable. I'm now a driver on a dedicated commercial route, fixed schedule, non-slipseated late model truck, making a minimum of $1200/wk with effectively limitless OT, flexible scheduling and benefits. In less than 2 years, I was named a Top 10 driver in our pool of 50 drivers across 3 states TLDR - Most of them suck, but if you are lucky enough to find a decent contractor, it is a lucrative job with excellent job security. And for any AOs reading this, if you pay your employees a decent wage, it compels them to care about their job and do the right thing. After working for several shit contractors, I can tell you there is a profound difference in attitude and demeanor when you are paid fairly

Simply put, the reason why Fedex Ground operates on the contractor model is to keep unions out. Keep wages low for drivers and shift the operating costs onto the contractors and away from Fedex. I think it should be everybodys right to join or NOT join a union. With that being said I used to work at Fedex Express for almost a decade. I now work at UPS and I made more on my first year of driving than a whole 10 years at Fedex. I'm also not even topped out yet just to put that into perspective.

@@prescottsims245 Full time courier, ended my career just shy of $24 an hour. Annual raises of about 2%. The "step progression" is a bold face lie. Had brand new couriers getting hired starting at 21.xx while veteran employees were barley making more. On top of the mediocre health insurance premiums increasing as well. The most I ever made was almost 50k and that was working as much overtime as possible during peak. I find it hard to believe that a Fedex driver with only 6 months making 70k unless you are a topped out RTD (tractor trailer driver) or getting weekly bravo zulu bonuses which I find highly unlikely. I made $56k on my FIRST year as a UPS driver, granted that UPS drivers work harder and longer hours it was still an eye opener for me. Top rate is currently $39.xx which only takes 4 years to reach. At Fedex you will NEVER reach top rate. The only thing I could see is that I worked at a small station.. perhaps you work at a larger station that is understaffed with plenty of call outs/extra work.

FedEX Ground drivers get paid on a salary basis not hourly. In Ontario (Canada) they got paid like 180 ca$ per day which encourages drivers to run to houses, businesses, condos, drive fast, disobey stop signs to save time. They try to finish their job within 8 hours but contractors/managers always push them so they spend more and more time. If they work 6 or 7 days a week NO OVERTIME just plain salary 180 CA$/day. Due to running this winter I fell a few times on ice/snow luckily no injury or detected so far. If the driver takes longer than 8 hours this job is not worth it HIGH RISK and low pay. Salary based pay system should be ILLEGAL as it's not only dangerous for drivers but other people on road. I hope other people understand too what delivery drivers go through everyday.

I had no problem with what I was paid at Amazon delivery, I left because of the unprofessionalism and the immaturity of those I worked with and the I don’t care way everyone did things , the major reason I quit is the Vans the Dsp I had were a danger to myself and others on the road and were never repaired and getting yelled at and ridiculed for flagging things that were a major concern on DVIC was not the way I wanted to work. Also the experience is something else I want, I hope to someday have a job at UPS and possibly make a career out of it.

How come fed ex ground will not give a driver a second chance after failing a drug test??

That's most DOT regulated companies bro. And the messed up thing is not everyone that fails a drug test even did drugs, just the companies way of pushing u out the door.

That’s awful, UPS is such a better choice. I made $1,643 after taxes for one week of work. UPS pays 100% for our healthcare and they pay into a pension, WHY WOULD ANYONE BE OKAY WITH FEDEX. UPS has a union to fight for higher wages and benefits. UPS top wage is $39 what’s FedEx? We are in control of our hours, we are guaranteed eight hours a day. Just do yourself a favor and put on some browns.

I was in the same boat... So i worked Fedex in Kansas City for about 8 months total. 5 months in i was still at starting pay of $150 per day. I asked for a raise and they bumped to $160. I ended up moving cities. The new contractor i got pays me $170 starting with incentives ($50 for helping, $40 weekend). Since i have experience, i made lots of money my second week. The manager quit and assistant manager quit, so now i moved up currently making $200 per day. Lifes good

I work for a contractor, 4 days a week, I average around 6 hours a day work, 24 hours a week. My contractor pays me for daily work no matter how many hours it takes and I come home with 650 a week before taxes. The other contractor on my line pays 1 dollar per stop above 150 stops but my contractor doesn't do that. It's just a fixed amount. I also don't think I would receive hourly overtime. Also my average stops per day is somewhere around 100

@@LaosHouse Getting paid by the stop is nothing more than 21st century sharecropping. So if you want to go out there and bust your ass for half the wages and zero benefits . be my guest. But, in the end it all comes down to the simple question of how long can you withstand the physical beating and what will become of you when you can no longer do so.

been driving for Fed Ex ground for a couple of months now. Got decent at the downtown route in my town. Really hard but doable. I have come to the conclusion that working for FedEx Ground is immoral if you desire for people who do this extremely hard job to be adequately compensated. FedEx Ground was created with the sole intention of undercutting UPS, a unionized with health benefits delivery company that expects results but treats their employees well. FedEx ground on the other hand pushes contractors to break the rules (of FedEx and sometimes the law) while working for a low daily rate that hourly can at times be similar to minimum wage.

I worked FedEx ground in south SF in 2020 and my checks would come out to 1511 every two weeks. Now I’m in Michigan making 1154 every two weeks with ground, I definitely miss the pay. I hope to make more in Florida

Holy crap dude! I usually average about 55hrs a week up here in Maine as a driver. And I'm hourly so I usually make really good money! I couldn't imagine being salary! When I started this last November like the week before I started my contractor was doing salary for the drivers at $700 a week which for how many hours a week we work would have sucked! All of our routes are in northern Maine so it usually takes at least an hour n half just to get to my first stop. Some of the guys I know on our team literally success Drives to the Canadian boarder! Average about 70 stops a day right now but yeah a lot of my time is just driving to and from the terminal!

How often are there position openings up in Maine? I've been at Amazon for a while and my wife and I have been looking to move to Maine for a while now. I was hoping I could jump to FedEx to make the job search part a little easier.

I'm a contractor that has over 45 drivers. Most of what this guy is saying is inaccurate. I won't say he's lying because he just doesn't know. If contractors were making so much money, why are so many contractors selling - because they are losing money. I'm one of these contractors and I'm selling out. I've lost a ton of money and I can't afford to continue down this road.
