Pull the back shell off and remove all the crap. Steam with salt. Once the shell starts to turn red, cook for 5 min. Keep it simple. So happy to see you finally caught a muddy and what a monster he was. Congratulations

The reason it was stuck in the shell is because it was under-cooked, will only separate fully when cooked. Need water rapidly boiling, then add crab and only start timer once it comes back to boil completely. Enjoy

Well done guys and your on the right track with bubb's , my lad was amongst noise from birth and he slept brilliant . Exciting times ahead and I have to say you have pulled up like a champ after the baby and you are glowing . After the cook straight into ice will free the meat right up .

Oh amazing! Hopefully she continues to be able to settle through it all 🤞🏼 Thank you so much I appreciate that, I feel great. Oh really! I didn’t know that will definitely try ice next time. How have you been?

@@thatfalzonfamily With the crabs tie them up and keep them alive until you are ready to cook . You can pierce with the knife just before you cook them if you want . After the cook I drop them into ice water only for a couple of mins just to stop the cook . 👌

NO. NEVER CLEAN IT. WHAT A WASTE. Make salty water. Let it come to boil. Add the mud crab. Wait till it changes colour. Take out. In a separate bowl mix oil and lemon. Cut up your crab and pour the lemon mix onto the crab. END OF STORY.

Pretty much what you did is the best way to cook mud crab. Some people prefer no garlic, and some do. Also learn to tie a mud crab (some people use rubber bands) and keep it alive until you drop it in the pot. It's no less humane than using a knife. But you did magnificently Lukey mate. You plans sound great too.

It was super yum! Does tying and boiling alive change the taste at all? Thank you!

@@thatfalzonfamily Geez don’t be so cruel would you like to be boiled alive.
@timroberts69 Жыл бұрын
@@thatfalzonfamily I'm not sure whether it changes the taste, it just means the crab is fresher, especially in Cairns where the heat is a factor and if you don't have any ice and it takes a while from killing to cooking. Fresher is always best. Everyone has their own way which is always "the best". You can just practice and experience more great mud crab.

If it's alive I will boil or steam it whole if it's been dead for over 8 hours I gut and steam it
