Thank you! I've never liked fingerpicks for the electric, though I have to use them for the resonators...But I think sometimes the fingers help when working the amp.

Larry Hutcherson I’ve been playing square neck dobro in a bluegrass band for a few years and have been playing with an old electric with a tall nut, lap steel style lately. I’m Thinking about starting lap steel playing. What tuning do you recommend I start with? I use open G on the dobro. I also notice I have better control on the electric without the finger and thumb pic. Thanks

@@joycethomas8868 It would depend I guess on the type of material you're doing. I do most of this stuff on an 8-string so there's that. My go-to is D or E open on 6 string, but G is what i used to use (and still do sometime). I would also guess that your G is going to be most familiar. Actually, I don't use Dobro G, but low G on the 5th string & low D on 6th. Have fun experimenting !
