I’m revisiting this after listening to it about 5-6 times over the past few days. I absolutely love it! Musically it’s classic storytelling with a definite beginning, middle and end. It’s like a tip of the hat to the breaks scene of around a decade or so ago, where the Burial sound came along and redefined ‘bass music’ or whatever you want to call it. Blurring the lines of genre, working it’s way into many different sets both in and out of the club environment. The transient flow created in this track is wonderful - the vocal sample is poignant, captures the zeitgeist and works flawlessly with the atmospheric texture built up before and after it. As for that high pass filter before the drop... oh behave! it’s playful, deep, fun, serious... a fantastic synergy. Bravo Lapalux.
