The Rapunzel syndrome is an unusual form of trichobezoar found in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, trichotillomania (habit of hair pulling) and trichophagia (morbid habit of chewing the hair), consequently developing gastric bezoars. The principal symptoms are vomiting and epigastric pain.

У меня больная щитовидка и искривление переносицы и я сплю часто с открытым ртом-воздуха не хватает. Из-за щитовидка и другого букета медпрелестей у меня сильно выпадают волосы, поэтому я тоже очень переживаю, что у меня такая же проблема. Однажды я уже видела операцию на желудке в Индии, где у женщины тоже вытащили такую дрянь с организма. Спасибо талантливым врачам. У меня брат двоюродный был микрохирургом, но при операции заразился вирусным гепатитом и умер. Других врачей я боюсь, а многим и не доверяю.

При лапороскопическом вмешательстве делают три разреза на брюшной стенке два для манипуляторов и один для подачи воздуха, разрезы небольшие, вот через них и извлекают, в данном случае мешок с безоаром( инородным телом)

They put some kind of port on the outside of the abdomen and made the cut and worked the thing out. It was the shape of the stomach and upper intestine. It was done by a Greek Dr. put Rapunzel Syndrome in the search bar also there is another name for this too.

I can't help but wonder how long it took for this much. I watched another video of hair being removed from a ladies intestine and it was a massive ball. The woman's intestine looked like it was about to bust open the hair was so compacted. Hers had a long twisted tail of other little hair balls as well. Definitely a strange disorder

I’ve been watching this for a bit now, and I honestly believe that it would’ve been faster. Had they done it the classical way instead of using these robotic arms it took them forever where if they would’ve went in with the scalpel surgeons hands and done it to me. This was done using a laparoscopic instrument called Ligasure made by Covidien now Medtronic’s. I used to work in doc control for this company and it is not a robotics instrument. It’s a hand held instrument operated by the surgeons! This video wowed me to think this was removed from a stomach. Good job to the surgeon!

I believe it's much easier on the patient.. much smaller wounds to heal. Small punctures vs. 6" cut, no telling how much tissue they would've had to cut through, those types of incisions take much longer to heal.

It’s so that they can remove the mass as intact as possible. If any part broke off it would be a location for infection. Also, the laparoscopy hole is relatively small so the mass might deform as it passes through, the bag ensures that it can be deformed but won’t break into pieces as it passes through the hole.

Yes I knew a girl when I was oh 7 or 8 who sat on her steps and pulled and ate her hair. She had to eventually wear a wig. Today 40 years later she has gorgeous hair.

This is neat to watch, but I can't help but ask why? Why do this inside of the peritoneal cavity? It seems like these are extra steps and would be best done with extracting the mass with a surgical wound protector through the abdomen. Doing a thorough washing will still have to be done to ensure that the cavity stays sterile. This seems unnecessarily unsanitary.

I usally love these body extractions. But this one actually grossed me out. I was cringing throughout the whole removal. Why did they have to use the little hemo-type tools to put it in the bag? Interesting to watch this surgery! But I don’t understand why this whole area, after the extraction of the hair ball, wasn’t hygienically and thoroughly cleaned of whatever residue was left in the tissues! Needed to be desperately cleaned before stitching it closed! Would that not contribute to a bacterial infection if left inside???

Me to I was wondering why also I’m like is that even sanitary to be inside someone like that. And when my stomach started to hurt when they were sewing 🪡 the stomach back. Ahh lol it did impress me on the skills that doctor had sewing it up. 👍🏽 Another thing also. I never knew it was that tough to cut through a human stomach.

The bag makes the removal of the specimen easier. The surgery is done through a scope ( small Hole) that way the specimen is removed whole and not in pieces. The bag is sterile just like the instruments.

This is going to give zipper locking plastic bags, a whole new dimension, for me. Forget the meds to reduce the hair down, WHY / HOW does one eat their own hair? But for the elephant in the room, If this was Laparoscopic surgery, how did they remove the bag, except for an incision into the cavity?

As far as I know, no one has specifically studied this issue. Perhaps they stick together with gastric juice.

Probably hair can’t be dissolved or softened by gastric juice so it lays in intestines and is not very impressed by motility due to its structure and dryness? Just guessing
