The big trout taking the fly again and again on that clean pristine river, the beautifully coloured char adding variety to the catch...the solitude of the landscape...that beautiful rainy day relaxing your eyes...the cold weather inviting you to drink a nice cup of comforting hot coffee...Carpe diem is the phrase: grab that moment of full pleasure in Nature.

That char take @ 10:11 is awesome! Love how the drag of the fly made the fish chase it even more. Great video as always! Love the pairing and the guidance between both. I can see it was not just about who can catch the most or cast the best, but how can each support one another to catch fish.

Hi. Ive watched the Lapland dreams videos many time over the last few years. They are wonderful for escaping every day life. Was the footage filmed in the same location on the same trip or different locations? Also, was this a different place to the “trip of a lifetime “ video in the same location? Thanks for sharing these. I think you said you’d stop making videos to focus on fishing. Hope you’re catching loads.

Thank you for another great video - you have a real talent for capturing the romance of fly fishing! I would love to know what weight fly rods were in use and what leaders/tippets were used? Maybe what size flies as well? I am new to the game and it would help me a lot to know. All the best to you and keep up the great work.
@CarpeDiemFlyfishing6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Glad you enjoy the video :) For the small stream we are using wt 3-4 equipment. For the swampy lake wt 4-5 and for the bigger char in the end a wt 6 is perfect. Regarding the tippet we use 0.12-0.16 mm when we are using small flies and when the water is clear. If the water is a bit muddy and/or if it's very rapid you can use thicker tippet, typically around 0.18-0.20 mm. For the big char with wt 6 rod we normally use tippets around 0.18-0.20 mm as well. Sometimes even up to 0.22 mm. If the conditions are windy it's hard to cast a light line so then it's often a good idea to use a little bit heavier lines than you'd normally use. Regarding the size of the fly it's really hard to give any recommendations. We always try to mimic the insects hatching at the moment so it all comes down to how big they are. In this specific video there are lots of caddis hatching and some of them are rather big. I would say that typically, in this type of fishing (brown trout and arctic char) we use flies around size 12-16. If the fish are picky we go down to size 18 or even 20 (and especially if they are feeding on mosquitos, gnats or midges). The most important part is to watch and try to figure out what the fish are eating at the moment. Tight lines

Tjena Magnus.

I can't get a good enough look at those pretty yellow bellied fish with silver grey backs? Doesn't have the markings of a brown. Is that some kind of char? I don't see the tell tale "wormy markings," at least from I think I don't. Thanks for sharing your'e adventures. Nice to see native wild browns. They are loved everywhere they have been stocked, but that's"home," correct? We have some great brown trout in Oregon.

Hej Oscar. Klass 3-4. Ha de gott
