Thank you for this video, this was the only resource I was able to find about this computer. Just to clarify for other people.The action in 3:53 is done by sliding that part to the left. That took me a while to understand.

Thank you so much! I needed to replace the cover, not the screen, but your video was all I needed. Just had to detach the camera and sensors, which are GLUED to the cover... Thanks again!!!

Do you know where top-back LCD covers for ASUS G550JK can be found under 50.00 USD/EUR?
@mjflory7 жыл бұрын
For those with a similar but not-quite-identical Asus, I've fully disassembled the screen assembly of my N550-JX. The one big difference is that there is no separate plastic border over the screen; it's all one piece of glass. To disassemble the screen itself you must remove the two screws closest to the bottom of the screen, then pull up on the tabs from which you removed the screws to separate a small part of the screen from the back. Then work your way around the edge of the screen, separating as you go. Once I'd separated a little portion with a flat-headed screwdriver (I should have used a piece of plastic, really) I was able to separate the screen and the back with my hands.

I have this laptop and my keyboard is playing up how do you get to it? I've opened the back up and gotten to the motherboard, I never took it off because I couldn't see the keyboard under it. If I'd taken the motherboard out will I have access to the keyboard?

Hi, at 1:11 I can clearly see the black piece of foam (is it foam? It looks not squeezable) attached to the display connector. Did you add it (to solve the black/flickering issue present in the N550JK model, too)? Or was it included by ASUS? Thank you very much in advance. I have the black sceen issue, unfortunately :-(. Right now I'm writing this post using an external HDMI monitor connected to my N550JK.

Hi. I need a top-back-lcd cover under 50.00 EUR/USD for ASUS G550JK. Any ideas where I can find it?

Thank you very much for posting this. Though I haven't yet fully disassembled it, the layout of my Asus N550JX-DS74T looks identical so far.

i spilt some fluid on it , so I let it dry but the screen doesnt come on and the power switch I think is faulty. I removed the power switch and got it to boot up, however the screen stays black and I tried checking the screen connector but it still doesnt work. will have to replac the power switch circuit board and hopefully that will work. Worst case I have to replace the screen too :(

Thanks. Wonderful video. Helped me a lot. I replaced my display on the n550jv which looked identical to me. I think you only forgot to remove the foil from the screen LOL 😀

Thanks so much! Could change my Asus screen cable by following this. It was 2 years making my screen go black randomly. I was on the edge of buying a new laptop for that.

Hi I have the same problem moving the screen there is a false contact that causes the black screen. Did you "simply" change the screen cable? Was it easy? Thanks Riccardo
@saminj4 жыл бұрын
rickyb0logna yes I actually got the cable for $6 from Amazon and ventured changing it myself by watching this KZbin clip. The Asus service center wanted $600 to see and fix it. I did it in one hour and everything looked perfect until the last day that I got an XPS 15 last year.

Does it work the same for the greenish and pinkish tint? Loosen screen cable?
@saminj4 жыл бұрын
@@tigerboom9030 honestly, I don't know... my screen was getting shut off, but I was feeling my laptop was still working and then when tried with an external monitor, everything was working fine. So, I thought whatever it was, it must have had to do with the connection cable, not motherboard etc...
@tigerboom90304 жыл бұрын
@@saminj it is either the screen. Or the EDP cable. My recommendation, is to buy or get the right EDP cable, switch it, and check of it worked. If it worked u saved yourself buying a new computer or buying an LCD screen. If the cable won't work. Than the problem is t the screen which new one costs around 60 bucks while EDP cable costs about 2 bucks. Edit: it won't kill u buying a new cable at 2 dollars and check it out(if u able to open without damage the computer). Also how long u have it?
