I own both. I am using desktop for 12 years & a laptop since 2014. My simple opinion: A laptop can never become a substitute of Desktop . If you want concentration, power etc. go for desktop. And for light work/ time pass like videos, excel, net surfing etc. go for laptop.

well you can get- i3 9100 (would have recommended the ryzen 3 3100 but it is more expensive) H310 motherboard (b365 is better but it will go out of your budget) 8gb ram (try to upgrade to 16gb later) GT 1030 (NOT GOOD for gaming, u can probably play like 720p in most titles. i would recommend buying a used graphics card from OLX.. U need a graphics card for this system otherwise it won't work) 1tb hdd (mass storage) 128gb ssd (boot drive) 450 watt psu (any psu under 2000 rupees, try to find a 80 plus white rated one) zebronics basic case Hope this helps- this is good for 1080p video editing, programming and web development (I use a dual core i3 6100 computer for the same stuff. so you should not have any issues.

I agree with you. Desktop PC is far better than laptop. I do assemble PC myself since last 20 years ! Installing windows from Windows 95 to windows 10 several times with help of my common sense. If I have any difficulty Google is there to help me. I format hard disk and make partition from DOS system of windows. Very few people are familiar with DOS system. absolutely not....its actually preferable tu use your laptop with charger connected...as it causes less strain to the battery...only remove the charger when u have to go outdoors...I have used my laptop in the same manner for 2 years..and the battery is in very good condition gives 3 to 3½ hours of ideal usage
