I went camping this weekend and kept hearing such a distinct bird call, I'm no ornithologist so had to do a bit of digging to figure out what I was listening to and It was definitely a pair of lapwings, this video confirmed it, they were doing such a wonderful display. Very entertaining while I sat in my camping chair drinking a cup of tea.

Just like a WW2 spitfire in the sky... We both have been Googling Ooo Eee bird sound😂just to find out the name of this magnificent bird.. Thank the Lord for this video.👍

Lovely video! That flight makes me realise why I couldn't get a good picture to identify these birds! Love the squeaky toy call too🙂

Beautiful video and music. Thank you. We have two here courting ❤. I cannot stop watching them. They keep appearing to be tumbling out of the sky only to rise again and soar.

Just seen this video, Lapwings are so rare in my part of the country these days. I used to watch them for ages. Definitely one of my favourite birds. Great video. 👏👏

Incredible video!! I have seen many of these in Norway, but I didn’t know what bird it was. I thought that it looks like a giant bat in flight! But now I know!! Such a characteristic wing shape and flight! 😍

I watched one flying on Saturday, beautiful! They were so common when I was a kid, following tractors much like all the seagulls do. Leigh medows, Kent.

A pair of these were flapping about above me near Biddulph yesterday. Initially I thought they were a bird of prey that I hadn’t come across before. They look so impressive in flight! Their call is very electronic sounding, a bit like an old walkie talkie. Beautiful birds.

They're crazy to watch live. At first you think they're sick and they'll soon crash, if you never saw them flying before. And I have yet to see one tiring from all the acrobatics.

I saw one yesterday and it looked like it was going to dive into the Earth. It disappeared out of sight really low to the ground. Fantastic!

Very nice! Excellent with the slow motion-makes it possible to really appreciate the aerobatics of the lapwing males! I am giving a presentation on the lapwing (in Norway), and one of my talking points is the lapwing songflight display. Would you allow me to use some sections of this clip in my presentation to illustrate different songflight sequences? I'll, of course, credit you as the source/copyright holder. Cheers, Gaute

Couple of months I saw from a distance two birds seemed to attack lambs. I was shocked a bit. When I researched at home I found out that I saw was the pair of lapwings actually defending their nest from lambs. 🤣😂

Beautiful! What amazing acrobatics. For the first time I saw a lapwing today and it was doing similar acrobatics. (This was in the Bolton area.) Hence I had to look it up on KZbin. You did a fantastic job filming this. What equipment did you use?
@terrysherwood20122 жыл бұрын
thank you so much for this. brings back memories of some fifty years ago when lapwings were common on farmland and I saw them when walking the dog. Their population has declined by 40% or more since then due largely to changes in farming practices. They are a threatened species on the red list. The population is still declining. So sad.

Wld pref these sorts of videos were not accompanied by music. Surely, the object of educating folk about birdsounds are not achieved when they are also forced to compete with yet more human interference? Such a shame. I will simply have to find a video without "human" music so as to better appreciate these unique birds' sounds. It is actually not that easy as many birdsound offerings fancy themselves as film editors too, sadly. Less is more, as used to be said? Ah well. Goodbye lapwing,humans think they know better sadly. They can't even give you 100% airtime but must needs water it down.
