In regards to the scene in Raiders where Indy shoots the guy with the sword, that scene was improvised. The story goes that Harrison Ford and a large part of the film crew had gotten INCREDIBALY sick at the time(I think it was Malaria). Ford was supposed to have an epic sword fight with the extra but Ford was like F**k it and shot the extra with his prop gun. It was so funny that the scene was kept, that and the crew just didn't have the energy left to do a retake, especially Ford.

Indiana on a CLOSE CALL. I feel like when Lara wasn’t attacking him she was just making jokes about herself. Indiana just kept rebutting what she said, threw a lot of heavy hits, and barely talked about himself.

Fun fact: Did you know that iconic gun vs sword scene was actually supposed to be an action scene? The problem was that Harrison Ford had food poisoning that day, and Stephen Spielberg didn’t want to post pone shooting the scene, so he just made it simple for Ford. You can even see in the scene that Ford looks pretty out of it

Speaking of which, "Like Mola Ram with a heart, Indy's taking a beating" is *_not_* getting enough love from this comment section! @@matityaloran9157 what do you mean?
@matityaloran91572 жыл бұрын
@@DDarkestKnight I mean that even though on a macro-level, it’s true that Indians Jones isn’t an essential character (since if the Nazis open the Ark they die) at a micro-level it’s not because without Jones in the movie the Nazis kill Marion Ravenwood to get the Medallion and locate the Ark. And what’s also true is that a major theme of the movie is that the Ark isn’t actually a weapon, with that being established practically since the beginning, so the fact that it turns out not to be one doesn’t actually undermine the story. The story is about an archaeological whose quest for a Biblical artifact leads him to the truth of miracles and thus converts him from a skeptic to a believer, the Ark of the Covenant is a plot device to enable that to happen rather than the purpose of his character being to search for the Ark. Yes, there are villains but the story isn’t about defeating evil, it’s about learning to be humble in the face of the divine. The joke on the Big Bang Theory was funny but it’s not actually a good critique of the movie
@BloodyBay2 жыл бұрын
@@matityaloran9157 And I'm thinking that if Indiana hadn't been there, then the Americans wouldn't have been able to claim the Ark and hide it in that warehouse; Belloq would still have opened the Ark and died with Toht and all those Nazis, and from there, either the Ark would have sat out in the middle of nowhere for who-knows-how-long or some more Nazis would have tracked Deitrich's footsteps to the Ark and maybe considered all the death and destruction strewn around it and figured that they could do better, so they take the Ark back to Germany where it could be examined further; perhaps Hitler himself would have opted to open the Ark in front of his vast army, with expected results. Maybe Indy _should_ have let the Nazis take the Ark after all. 🤔

3:21, for the record, the Raiders Minimization wasn’t a good cinematic critique. Without Indiana Jones in the movie, the Nazis kill Marion Ravenwood to get the medallion, find the Ark and all die, with him in the movie she lives. Also, it’s not a movie about the sacred relics of Biblical Judaism, it’s a movie about a disbelieving archaeologist whose quest for the Ark transforms him from a skeptic to a believer. Not to mention it was a major theme of the film that the Ark wasn’t a weapon. Amy Fera Fowler missed the entire point of the movie. Also, in the sequels, Jones actually is an essential character so the critique doesn’t work there. I know it was written as a joke but it’s not a good criticism
