As much as I love Pavarotti, this lady is the only one for me who knows how to nail it. She presents herself as a narrator, her entire body language screams as if she experiences these bittersweet moments between those two lovers. It is just utter perfection, the voice is so clear, so powerful and at the same time, it weighs you down. It is just a masterpiece, bravo.

I have to agree with you. Her performance is much better than Pavarotti's performance in Paris. He sings the song. Lara lives the song - we get to experience the intensity of the feelings because Lara feels them and uses her incredible talent and training to draw us into the moment. We become one with her in this song.

Nope only not as popular as the US Paper Divas.

Was soll der ganze Streit. Unglaublichen Dank an Lucio Dalla.

Thank you so much for this information, Martin s! I would that you listen to these words, which have haunted me for a number of months now, but these are the words I noted concerning Lara Fabian's rendition of Dalla's "Caruso," which had me asking questions such as this one I posted February 6th 2015, seeking anybody who could help me: "And again, Lara's lovely voice is hypnotic; her passion felt within the words of the music! I am not able to know dor sure, but I would love to have another who understands EXACTLY what is being said within the music of this language - Is it not Italian? - please give to me, exactly what is found within this language, as perfectly as possible, what is most assuredly going on within this piece of music. I feel within the presentations of Pavarroti and Lara Fabian, so much more is being said in the cadency of the music, than I am hearing within the English subtitles. Would someone able to pick out the true story from within the language being sung, please write the "hidden aspects of the music," in English as well, so that I am able to ascertain whether or not I am simply dreaming, or that there is a hidden message in the languages, that I am not hearing in the English, but surely throughout the music: would you please do this for me? I feel an overtone of actual death occurring in the music; either the death of the man singing to the woman with the green eyes, or the death of the woman with the green eyes, I do not know which one is dying: is this also being pushed forward in the language, and not being noted within the English subtitles? Or is it the awfulness of that which is not actual death, but possibly that which is greater than actual death, but a time of either of these, the one or the other, having to live life without the one that is dying able to live beside him/her any longer due to his/her death, and the one living, hating to have to do so - live without the other being there? Am I simply dreaming these thoughts, placing them there when they aren't there truly, using the imagination, or is this emplied within the song "Caruso," and I have no actual/historical understanding of the reason why I see these things in another language, being brought to my soul through the music? If you can understand that which I am saying, and can help me in English, please do. Maybe this is being seen and heard by all who love music - I do not know - however, it would be great to understand, finally, that I might put this all to sleep in the knowledge of its true story." And so thank you Martin, as her rendition of "Caruso," to my mind and heart, which are those of a musician - a vocalist and percussionist - brought forth in me feelings of actual death occurring, as you can read in the above! Your enlightenment of the reasons for the verbiage, now cause me great pain, as well as pleasure, in being able to discern through the music and the passion of Lara's presentation, a deeper quality in the music, that spoke to me of imminent death occurring, and I was able to even note the quality of death by saying: "I feel an overtone of actual death occurring in the music; either the death of the man singing to the woman with the green eyes, or the death of the woman with the green eyes, I do not know which one is dying: is this also being pushed forward in the language, and not being noted within the English subtitles? Or is it the awfulness of that which is not actual death, but possibly that which is greater than actual death, but a time of either of these, the one or the other, having to live life without the one that is dying able to live beside him/her any longer due to his/her death, and the one living, hating to have to do so - live without the other being there? Am I simply dreaming these thoughts, placing them there when they aren't there truly, using the imagination, or is this emplied within the song "Caruso," and I have no actual/historical understanding of the reason why I see these things in another language, being brought to my soul through the music?" Thank you for having answered me long before I made my predicament known on youtube! Now I may close the book on my dilemma, but this, even as I choose to open the book on Lara Fabian a good deal further!

Joel Gehrke Yes, she is awfully wondrous in her craft, a highly gifted songstress, who could set any piece aflame, and does so with a most delightful one, like 'Caruso,' expertly! Wow!

julian rodriguez Julian, there is always so much more can be said concerning such an artist; however, with Lara Fabian, she is so special, I have thought as is the case so often, less is more, dealing with this lady! I would love to attend a concert, and from the front row on the floor right before her, and hopefully among but a small group of fans. I could watch and listen to this performance, and remember it, forever.

***** She surely is, Marco! KZbin has so much excellent music there, there are days, especially when I am busy online, I will take the time to reminisce within youtube music files, some videos and others, audios. but that one amazing ingredient youtube has, is they have so very much for us to share from, among which Lara Fabian is surely one of the very best!

There’s not many people out that I can say, “She just does it for me”. Gorgeous. Beautiful voice. Authentic expressions. Super sexy all the way around. She just NAILS this song. If you like this version, I highly recommend the version she did with David Foster. Absolutely perfect. Gives me goose bumps every single time.

Clearly Lara is superb but her accompanist needs to be recognized for his beautiful and emotional performances too.

I heard this song many times before, but it was when My mother showed me this video while waiting for my sister in the car that I truly fell in love with this song. ❤️

It's great luck for us, that this performance by Lara has been taped and is now available on KZbin. This is possibly the best version of Caruso. In my opinion - this is the best.

Impeccable pronunciation! I don't even speak Italian, but know a lot of individual words, and I can understand each and every one.

Its her first language. Her mother was from Sicily and Lara lived there until she was 5, then moved to Belgium (her father is from Belgium).
