She speaks fluently 4 languages: Italian is her mother tongue French English Spanish Her mum is Italian and her dad is belgian And she moved to Canada when she was 19 y/o and became Canadian in 1995. She has a huge success in francophone countries and eastern of Europe. She was also recognized in the USA with her hit “ i will love again “ .

French IS her mother tongue though she always pretends for some reason it's italian. She was born in Belgium, she attended a belgian kindergarten and her father is a french-speaking Belgian. Her mother tongue is French and I know that because I was at the kindergarten with her and lived in the same neighborhood. But as a french native speaker, I assume she thinks Italian is more exotic.

@@LulluNatic I think the real reason is because she got bad press from Italy when she wanted to represent them in Eurovision. They portrayed her as an outsider and since then she's made clear efforts to reclaim her half Italian heritage

Lara speaks Italian, French, English and either Spanish or Portuguese or maybe its German. Who knows she speaks many more than most of us.

Her grandfather grew up in the United States(Michigan and Illinois) before moving to Europe to reclaim his roots and her father was a back-up singer for the English speaking American singer Petula Clark . The English Language has been a part of her life from virtually the outset as has French and Italian. To have picked up/acquired Spanish along the way was practically a given.

That was the wrong show for her to make her American debut on a talk show. They called him Kilborn because he would kill anyones career that was born. Her answers were horrific in this interview. People needed to hear her sing instead to see her greatness.
