Lara Fabian was very well trained by the best opera teachers from Belgium and Italy, but she decided to sing pop songs, she also has the knowledge to sing in operatic way, she studied from her 8 to 18 at the Belgium Conservatory of Music (there she learned Bel Canto, piano [she composes her own songs on piano)... Then since 1998 she kept having vocal lessons with her Italian teacher untill nowdays, she has two vocal teachers (From Belgium and Italy) and she keeps having vocal lessons at least 3 times per week on-line. Lara also workz as a vocal coach on The Voice Canada, she already worked as the vocal coach at the Star Academy program in France from 2004 /2008. Please react to Lara Fabian - Llora live in Kremlin 2010 (Llora means cry in English) Thank you.

Marco Chessa To be fair, Italian is her mother tongue (literally speaking since her mom is Italian). Love her for more than 20 years now.. yes she can belt, but i think Celine and others are in the same league, but i personally adore her more for her lows, this warmth, that velvetness and richness that embraces you, there is no one like her. No one else got such beautiful lows and as much as i like the French output from Celine, she hasn't got those lows. She has other qualities. I always think that this is the italian mum in Lara, giving her the depth in those lows... always wondered why she never did an album with italian ballads like this beautiful one. It's been on her 1996/7 album "Pure" so it's been already a while.... in her recent efforts she does not display the full range of her voice anymore.. guess she does not want to repeat herself and she was often critizised in France for yelling. Never really got why...
@Platycqb5 жыл бұрын
dreasbn Meh Lara is still using her full range. But she’s definitely reduced the way she’s expressing herself on stage. As to why some French media shot her down repeatedly for that (and for having a powerful voice), I still don’t get it.

Her timbre has a majestic grandeur but it's not a Eurovison song contest voice of the 70's. She builds it all up in a very controlled way, so it can get very emotional and dramatic but never hysterical. Perfect balance of total emotion and total control. This kind of perfect classical beauty concept fits not well into pop music and so that could be a reason why she is not more famous (??)

Friggin A! At last, somebody who understands why Lara is so dramatic on stage. That’s her way to sing, to actually live the song. She’s a super emotional person (she gladly admits it). She’s been criticized so much in France when she started to be famous in 1998 or so. People said she only yelled and was overdramatizing. And she got very low at some point due to this unfair criticism. Up to changing the way she sings now. It’s a shame. People didn’t understand she’s just talented, like a lot of other singers obviously, but Lara masters her technique so expertly that they thought she was forcing her notes when she was just displaying her voice control.

Thank you very much for your music appreciations. So far, Just the Voice, you have just listened largely to Lara's "beasty" songs. These are very enjoyable and I am pleased you like them, but they are mostly from nearly twenty years ago. if you advance into her repertoire a bit further you will find many divine "non-beasty" singing. I suggest you try " I guess I loved you" from her Regard 9 concert (2006) where she sings with just a piano, or "Quand je ne chante pas" (2010). If you want another "beasty" , recent, song, go to Choose What You Want.It'll Kill You (2017).

The original song is italian. The singer who won Sanremo Festival in 1989 was Massimo Ranieri. The sing is not properly for a woman. It's a song of a man dedicated to a woman. In fact the song said in a passage "Perdere una donna è come avere voglia di morire", that it means "Losing a woman and it's as wishing to die". This doesn't sound like very good. Lara Fabia sing not a cover but in a good italian language because she has italian-canadian parents. The pronounce in italian sounds like very sweet because of it.She is very beautiful woman and full of talent, too.
