Wow such a timely video. I have just been off sick from work for 2 days for the first time ever due to lack of sleep and anxiety. It’s crippled me. 40 this year and it’s quite overwhelming at the moment. Def think this is peri menopause for me, everything you are talking through I resonate with 😢 thank you for this video, very validating to what I’m going through. Xx big love to all us ladies

I turned 42 in March and since then I’ve started having irregular periods when I’ve always been regular (just started my 2nd period this month). Night sweats, trouble staying asleep, more brain fog, worse mood swings, less patient with people, paranoia. Awesome stuff 😅

Great video Lara and we definitely need to be speaking more openly about this. I’m only 39 and have had all the menopause symptoms for years, I kept being told you’re too young, it’s not menopause. My Husband had a vasectomy so I stopped taking my contraceptive pill, after 8 months I had still not had a period. I went to the doctors who took bloods, this showed I had very high FSH levels. A scan was booked and this confirmed I have no follicles left and was no longer ovulating. I suddenly felt I had aged by 15-20 years but also had the validation that I was right for all the years I’d been saying I had the menopause symptoms. It just shows we know our bodies better than anyone else. Due to early menopause I was advised that I needed to take HRT as it can have an effect on the heart, bones etc I have been taking HRT and calcium for about 3 months now. The symptoms have eased on the HRT but I have a family history of breast cancer so I’m still wary about taking it. Being a woman is tough sometimes! X

I found going caffeine free and not drinking alcohol has helped massively, the rest of the symptoms I try not to overthink and analyse as it just increases anxiety and most days apart from the odd hot flush I just try to crack on. I listen to some people and they let it consume them, its part of our ever changing bodies and we can get through this.

I’m about to turn 43…. And although my periods still regular, I have suffered last few years with painful joints(hips particularly) and brain fog. Recently getting a lot more mood changes. Trying lots of vitamins and increasing eating protein and exercising. It’s a mine field

Yep. All of the above symptoms. Great chatty video. My worst symptom that I have been suffered from severe insomnia for years now! ..sleep deprivation makes every other symptom worse and life in general a total struggle.

All of the above! But mine was also seriously low mood/ bouts of depression, feeling overwhelmed and out of control. I'm normally such an organised person, but I feel like I've got too many spinning plates, most of them are wobbling and I worry that they're all going to crash down on top of me. Joint pain, headaches.....😂 joyful joyful! But now I'm on HRT gel, merina coil and b12 injections and I feel much better, but talk to the doctor and push it - I was initially told I was too young (42) but when I asked yo speak to the menopause specialist for my gp practice, she didn't even question me when I listed out all the symptoms I've experienced (not all together or all the time), she validated me straight away

Thank you for this video Lara, I’ve noticed a massive change since November and I thought I must be ill but after a while I’ve realised it’s definitely perimenopause. Like you said there’s hardly any informative videos on here to help understand it more. I started with period changes getting longer, nausea and vertigo. Brain fog also x

Great video. Were very lucky that it's big topic that's being covered by lots of people. Highly recommend Davina's book. Biggest challenge is knowledge for the doctors and resources within the NHS. My friend had to go private for this 😢 I get alot of symptoms but i had a hysterectomy two years ago so my hormones have taken time to settle down as they were switched off with meds. ❤

I’m 42 and been having night sweats, low mood, anxiety, can’t lose weight. Davina McCall did a little series about menopause which is a good watch and I think there was a talk on diary of a ceo Steve Bartlett, one of the guests spoke about menopause too. I’ve been seeing a homeopath which has helped a bit - women really go through it don’t we!

I'm 41. I woke up one day in November with heartburn and anxiety was through the roof! Then in the following days/weeks i started with dizziness, night sweats, hot flushes, other digestive issues, migraine auras (never had before), uncontrollable crying, aches and then a period that was late and then 18 days later another period. Oh and not forgetting insomnia. Constantly feeling out of it and not myself. Wondering if it's too late to opt out of this. 😂

My workplace have just done a whole week of wellbeing webinars, talks and got in BUPA to talk about peri and menopause for the first time i can remember. I think we're at the very start of a big shift of it being recognised abd talked about more openly. Its been good to know im not going batty (im 40 and getting quite a few symptoms, so definitely think im on my way to it).

Thank you for speaking about this. Agreed there is not enough out there about perimenopause and menopause in general. I had this coversation just recently. We are not taught these things and have to find out infomation for ourselves. Im currently trying to figure out my hormones. I have very bad PMS which has been getting worse despite being on the pill. After a lot of research have decided to stop all birth control as it wasnt doing what it was supposed to be doing anyway. Am going to see how i fair this month but perimenopause did cross my mind. The doctor however said I was too young (Im 36) so we shall see. Another side note vitamin B12 deficiency can cause A LOT of awful symptoms so its worth having that checked also. You have to specifically ask for it as its not checked on a routine blood test. A lot of people are deficient apparently especially if you are vegetarian/vegan xxx

I'm 41 and haven't been to the doctor yet but my monthly has started a week earlier and 2 weeks late and it's lighter than normal and I keep forgetting stuff and I had someone ask me the other day if I was pregnant I guess my belly is bigger than I thought it was and no I'm not pregnant that I know of anyway I do have Anxiety and panic attacks and I've noticed that my anxiety has gotten worse it's gotten so bad I can't even get in a car or truck without having a attack so I stay home which sucks because I use to enjoy going for short rides to the store and looking around now I can only see new stuff and places here on KZbin or in movies or pictures I've always had truble sleeping the doctor told me that my sleeping clock is backwards from everybody else so I get sleepy during the day and not the night so I normally go to bed around 2am or 5am and I get up around 8am and 11am and the only times I've noticed that I couldn't hold my pee has been when I cough hard or sneeze and it has just started to do it so idk if it's premenopausal or if my hormones are just out of whack

My symptoms were itchy skin, bloating, weight gain , headaches, anxiety, dry eyes, the main one was very dry down below called vaginal atrophy for that I use yes moisturiser which I do recommend and I take menopace tablets and have done for a long time now. I turned 40 October and have been struggling for the last 12 months. The doctor just fobbed me off with the your too young speech. My periods have been horrendous. They are all over the place and have gone from being pretty light and shorr to long and heavy (getting worse also). Crippling migraines which are getting worse including vomiting and occular migraines which I didn't get before. Dry eyes. Waking up lots in the night and lately I've started waking up at 4am with anxiety and not being able to sleep. The brain fog is awful especially as I'm studying for a professional qualification and started a new job and it's so frustrating to feel like your not able to pick things up as fast as you used to.
