In Europe it is/was the same with KID STARS. There is just a hand full growing older and getting a normal life like the Dutch boy HEINTJE ( Singer and actor in his childhood in the Sixties ( later on becomming a well known Horse breeder in the Netherlands. or Jan Fedder ( also a German kid star in the Sixties later growing up to a well known actor playing everywhere from Stages over TV series up to movies. Often it is the same as in the States Fedder ( 1955-2019 ) came from an old German Actors and Producer family from Hamburg and so to speak was guided on his track to become an actor, director and producer himself.

@@rogerlynch5279 Interesting, I guess what a child actor becomes, maybe has less to do with their own character and more to do with those who surround and have influence over them. Now that was a series that had an almost Walt Disney feel. Another hero of mine was Guy William's Zorro. I bring all this up because this interview stirred a lot of memories. And what memories. Robert Crawford Jr was a very talented actor and I hear that it was largely due to his performance in the pilot episode that sold the series to the network, A year earlier Robert had been nominated for an Emmy (one of the youngest nominees ever!) for his role in the tv production "Child of Our Time". His brother Johnny was nominated the same year for his role on "The Rifleman"! Robert was written out of "Laramie" because he had a growth spurt and the producers thought he looked too old for the role. They did a full season with no kid and then came back for season three with Dennis. That's the true story!

Slim and Jess were my heroes when I was a kid and have become again today through GRIT TV. Good values presented in that TV show. Although I wish I had kept track of how many times the boys got shot through the course of the series. 😄

COULDN'T YOU HAVE ASKED HIM THAT IN A FOLLOW-UP QUESTION?? OY VEY!!! HOPE YOU HAVE HIM ON AGAIN, SO HE CAN FINISH THE DAMN STORY!! CHAS ORVIS, PLAINVILLE, CT.

@@AWordonWesterns I wonder if there are any goodies out there been years since i been back.I also got to Meet Harey Carey Jr,he signed my rifle stock,A magazine by the name of Shoot Magazine presented Harey with an engraved ivory six shooter and holster rig,it was a grand opening for the adobe ranch his dad built which is now a museum, they wanted some people there dressed as old western folks,so i slapped my chaps on a cowboy hat and an old vest and headed out,i took the stock off a rifle i had just bought and he signed both sides,Harey Carey Jr. and "Dobe" on the other side.I took a pic of his wife with that rig over her shoulder he sure liked it so the guy that sent me the paper asked if Harey could have a copy,wy hell yea, so i sent Harey a copy through the docent at William S. Hart Museum. We even made the local paper Santa Clarita Gazette i think it was called.I even got offered a job of docent by the new owner of the ranch, they also own Farmer John products. But i live 300 miles north of there and was working at the county road dept.He said i could have anything i wanted to teach with,i think he liked my chaps. One of the best days ever,i asked Harey,i bet you have alot of rigs like that,he replyed nope this is the only one i got all those you see in ther movies go back to the prop Dept.He lived in Santa Monica then and invited us all over to see more pictures and such but that was a long drive away.He did take us on a tour of the inside and told stories, said that 3 Godfathers was partly filmed in the desert at the time near his dads ranch, and the Navajos had a trading post there and worked on the ranch,he said his dad had to sell that ranch because work had slowed down,he said i saw my dad age Ten Years driving away from that ranch, which choked him up a bit,his sister was there and comforted him fer a moment, got to talk to her to she said she followed John Wayne around like a lost puppy. You could just imagine The Duke,John Ford,Ben and other having a drink on the ranch, that ranch is awesome.Just like you would imagine an adobe ranch to be.You ever seen a western where they drag a guy around behind a horse, that comes from a game the Navajos played tore up many a Navajo blanket under them bellys According to harey Carey Jr. YO!
