We are a military family...and have made cross country trips when moving! Taco meat, ground beef Bulgogi, meatballs and sauce... ALLLL fully cooked, and then frozen flat in a gallon ziplock in a gallon bag...even pasta can be cooked and LIGHTLY sauced(to prevent sticking) and frozen and tossed in the cooler... dinner in a hotel in the instant pot takes 2 seconds to heat up... and you can even microwave them if you really want too...and the single pot washes soooo easily!

Most memorable time we had to go to Camp Lejeune North Carolina, and then station back to Camp Pendleton California and this was in the 60's, and the whole time it was an adventure! We stopped along the way and saw things and did things so what should have taken us I guess about a week I think took us about a week and a half but it was worth it!

We've always saved so much money by packing meals. As the kids got older we now try to travel overnight so they don't see us stop for gas and instantly want everything we didn't pack. The kids call it fast traveling 😂. I take my instantpot for cooking in hotels too. Love the video! Looks like a great time.
@ashleysovereen10242 жыл бұрын
You literally may have just convinced me to get an instant pot now. I've never been into cooking frozen chicken but cooking in an hotel room you piqued my interest. Though would the steam possibly set off the smoke detector?? I may have accidentally cooked my taco meat at too high of a temp in an hotel suite with a kitchen, setting off the smoke alarm and bringing the fire dept. They were very good natured about it, but don't need to repeat! Lol!
@73cidalia2 жыл бұрын
@@ashleysovereen1024 It would depend on how close it was to a smoke detector and how sensitive the smoke detector is. One trick is to throw a dish towel over the venting valve when you do quick release. It keeps the steam from flying up too high. Just have another dish towel to tuck around the instant pot to keep any of the condensation from running onto whatever surface you’re cooking on.

The tip for Angel's Landing is to be the first ones up. The sunrise is incredible. You don't have to worry about hikers who shouldn't be up there or hikers who have slippery shoes. It's not hot. Also, you have plenty of space for climbing up those chains.

It is so beautiful in St George! I've never been there,and probably will never get to go. I've been disabled and not able to walk for 6 years now, but I used to go hiking and camping all the time. I miss it so much. My husband is talking about buying an RV and us traveling I out west, since its hard for me to take long car trips. I could just lay down if it gets too much for me sitting straight up. I love to travel though. Its going on my bucket list. Have a blessed day!

The Narrows looked like an amazing hike but I went back and watched the Angel's Landing video and noped out really hard- at the beginning I was like 'oh it's sad that the younger 2 missed it' and then 1. I realised how tiny even your older kids were in 2016 and 2. That hike was not to be messed with! So impressed with how careful and sensible everyone in your party was but I still freaked out so much. I didn't even think I was scared of heights!

If you love the Quinn pretzels, you need to try the Quinn microwave popcorn. No nasty unhealthy oil--just popcorn in the microwaveable bag. I used to get it at my local Publix, but they discontinued it. I now find it at my local Target, or I can order from Amazon. It can be considered a bit "expensive", but it's much healthier than the other microwave brands.
