In this video, I travel to Utah with the intention of revisiting some familiar locations in the canyons of Capitol Reef. With heavy cloud cover and light rain in the forecast, I focus my attention on the grand landscape.

Thank you for sharing these experiences with us. These photographs are brilliant, reminiscent of the art of Anselm Adams. I really appreciate the quality of the black and white pictures, which show your mastery. These are the best photographs I have seen in recent years. So, please, keep up the good work. Best wishes Rudi

Very satisfying to watch you so quietly at work, Shane, especially with such extraordinary subjects (and skies). Haven't seen that chest for 8 x 10 holders before nor, I think, the 800 mm lens. Both enviable

Hi Bernard! I actually built the film holder chest a couple of months ago. The 800mm has been with me for a decade. I hope the tripod head is working out for you.

@@shanedignum I can relate to that. So are my Leica, Hasselblad and Large Format lanses and cameras. I couldn't afford a new Leica these days even if I maxed out my credit card. Madness, that what I say. I am waiting for the AI to bite in, and in a couple of years all these M11s and M10 Monochroms will be like the film equipment after the first few years of digital, that they couldn't give them away. Alas, I am getting old now and theer may be no time left. Keep well.

Thanks so much for sticking with the B$W, Shane. The images are lovely. Always curious about what speed you're rating your film, what developer you're using, and how you might be adjusting development time for the different images. Thanks again.

Thank you! I have two different methods for developing B&W, I rate my film depending upon which method I plan on using. I stick with the same film and developer, FP4+ and Pyrocat HD. Yes, the pano shot was N+1, everything else was tray processed normal.

Really like your minimum commentary format, very relaxing to follow along. I have a question about your telephoto, is that a convertible 600mm/800mm lens? Depending on the rear cell, I suppose? Stunning images. Since you're doing more black & white now I reckon your darkroom is nearing completion?
@shanedignum
@shanedignum Жыл бұрын
Hi Alfred. Yes, it's a 600/800 depending upon which rear cell is attached. The darkroom is coming along, but still a few months away from being complete. Looking forward to it!

Dude! (I know, I'm kinda old to be saying that, but…) I love the Butte. My wife and I camped there just a few weeks ago, right where you were along the rim. One of our favorite spots. That first image is tremendous, as is the 800mm. What about Long Dong Sliver? You were so close, we thought you'd go there too. Regardless, great video. Looking forward to the next one.
