That's the problem, can he act, is he natural playing a character in front of the camera? Well that doesn't matter because he's pretty. I think you mean model
@vanessaajohn7 жыл бұрын
layla allen my problem isn't his talent, it is the fact that because he has a pretty face people want to cast him in stuff. In the movie industry talent is always being overlooked but the attractive person and it's should be like that.

This brought back fond memories of the early 1960's, when I was a reporter-photographer on a small daily newspaper, using Crown and Speed Graphic 4X5 cameras. All was done with B&W Kodak film, and I quickly learned to shoot with the lens set at f16 whenever possible. Also, there were no rangefinders so one had to estimate distances to the subject. I also developed the film and printed from an enlarger. Really learned to appreciate this format, as the larger negative provided more room to maneuver, cropping-wise. A great post, gentlemen!

I worked as an assistant photographer in the early 90s with a architectural photographer doing 5x4 and he said the reason that medium format was so close to 5x4 in quality was because the rolls held the film flat against the film plane whereas the 5x4 could not - which softens it in places. He would shoot four plates per shot, 2 at the correct exposure and + and - a third, shooting polaroid until he'd got his exposure and compostition. What we did like was as you say, it teaches you exactly what a camera is: a box with a film at one end and a hole at the other, then a box with a film at one end and a lens at the other, now a box with a chip at one end and a lens at the other. There are still only three controls, size of the hole, how long it's open for and focus. With large format everything is planning. I think his fees back then were about £750 a day plus expenses and for that you would get probably 8 to 12 shots. Being film you would also need to deal with mixed lighting - basically you'd have to take every light bulb in your scene out and wrap it in gel and of course, remove them all afterwards. A shot would easily take two hours to set up and then about a minute to actually shoot. It was brilliant actually, I loved it. I've never seen 5x4 used for portraiture though - it would change the dynamic - becomes more like a school photograph. The size and the set up changes the relationship between you and the subject. Good for photographing famous people I would have thought.
