Large Format Tiles Installation Guide | Best Tile Adhesive for Large Tiles | How to use TileAdhesive

Sizes of tiles have increased a lot. The quality and technology of Tile manufacturing has evolved a lot and now it is possible to make large size tiles. The size of tiles have gone upto to 8Ft x 4 Ft. It is not a easy task to install large tiles.
Installing tiles and installing natural stone is two different things. Natural stones are porous and can provide anchoring facility to cement to hold the stones. But tiles are very smooth from back and have very high density. The density has to be high to make large tiles. Due to this, cement tend to fail holding tiles when both the items expand and contract.
Polymer modified tiles adhesive are much better in performance while holding large format tiles.
This video explains why Polymer Modified Tiles are better in comparison to Cement Mortar.
Disclaimer
This does not mean that Cement Mortar is not good. If you have a very good installer, he can give good result in Cement Mortar also. In Polymer Modified Tile Adhesive the chance of failure is less if used properly. The correct tile adhesive used correctly gives great results.

Thanks for the informative video. Unfortunately, the labour doesn't care about all these. Even the renowned flooring contractor in my city doesn't use notched trowel. They simply applied a thick layer of adhesive on tile using normal trowel. Like the way they used to work with cement. Where the company claimed a coverage area of 5-6sqm, I have got a coverage area of 1.5 sqm per bag. After going through the process of house construction, I honestly believe that there should be schools/training center for masonry/plumbing and other such works in every tier 2 city at least.

True , in my experience also . Contractor gave the work to someone who doesn't even know how to use adhesive properly .Finally the floor ended up with many airgaps under many tile .

Completely Agree. They use adhesive like cement. For eg for my 2x4 wall tile they used almost 8kg per tile. 160kg for 20 tiles. I even bought them a trowel and all that and they treat adhesive like cement. Go by sound when fixing and waste 3 times more adhesive. No proper training frankly.

Please tell, when my mason installed tiles with KANGHI, he said that it is only used at walls where they are straight but if there is undulations in walls, they have to trowels just like done in cement mortar. What if vitrified tiles were not initially applied with adhesive on wall elevation and now after an year tiles keep falling. Is there any solution or method or jugaad to keep those tiles stuck on the wall ? ? Any sticking material, available in market, that can be filled in joints to keep them stuck on wall or any other method ? ? (since the wall area is quite large to re-do all tiling work) . Sir plz reply jrur krein. Hmare pdos me ek ne vinyl flooring krwai hh saste me hi under 10k. M bhi pvc vinyl flooring krana chahta hun but thodi better quality. Tiles lgwani thi but abhi budget nhi hh utna. So nearly 700sq feet me pvc vinyl flooring krani hh. Quality better ho, to aap hi koi brand and achi thickness wgera suggest krie plz. And nearly cost bhi btana sir kitna pd jaega without labour, (i think labouring is 6rs/sqf)..good quality flooring thode moderate budget me suggest kijie sir plz
