I loved the shot of the arched trees shot wide open. I wonder how many people watching your channel would realise that to get the same shallow depth of field on 35mm or digital FX format, an aperture of about F1.8 would be required, and then all that information and super smooth rendering of the 4X5 negative.

Long time no see. It is great to see we wander in the same woods. Don't get lost in the figure of 8. Good to see your videos.

I love the one of the fallen tree. I ended up looking at what was in the background as the tree kind of led me there.

That place looks like it needs a revisit, in the very early morning, or late evening; to get more drama.

After seeing your images. I realise that I don’t use 5.6 enough. Love the B&W images.

Thanks Patrick.

I think the wonky tree works better in colour, the fallen one is good in both, depending how you want the picture to feel.

Nice work. Is that a 150 mm lens?
@rjphotos3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I have a 90mm too but use the 150 more often.

Excellent work, what framing app?
@rjphotos3 жыл бұрын
The app is called viewfinder. I think it’s only available for iOS, though there’s one I’ve used for android called cadrage.

@@rjphotosMarks Artist Viewfinder?
@rjphotos3 жыл бұрын
No, it’s called viewfinder preview

Very interesting (as an ex LF sufferer) and nice images; can’t decide if I like the colour or bw version of the 1st shot most as both look superb.
@rjphotos3 жыл бұрын
I think I prefer the bw version. It has a certain glow to it.

At the start of the video you use for the autumn colors the term painterly, but I feel this is not quite appropiate. I'd rather call the colors muted, this is because the sun is not out. But to enhance the colors you could use a warming up filter. Have you got the standard UV filter on your lens? Allways keep that on. I'd not do these pics with a 150mm, I'd choose a 210mm and I'd not select F 5.6 as this introduces far too much unsharpness. The fallen tree trunk leads the eye into the pic, but there's nothing in particular to be seen. Keep that in mind when making compositions. Do away with the viewfinder preview and instead know what frame/angle a particular lens offers and train your eye, your vision. Success.

Thanks for the comment. We all have different tastes at the end of the day. I take photos for my own enjoyment rather than to please a particular audience. Not everyone will like them that’s for sure, but that’s how it should be.
