I love your enthusiasm for railroads and model railroading. When I worked for the RR the other crew members I worked with focused on the negative way more than the positive aspects. Even though I was almost killed in a train crash I still love to see trains and love model railroads.

What I find so fascinating is the way that these industrial facilities are so often in the most scenic locations, and a very picturesque small town right next to it, but it manages to blend in with the countryside so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. And that old brewery has tremendous character.

The brewery, great building for a delinquent building on fire. Fire scenes can be very rewarding and bring a lot of attention to your layout. Not everything has to be pristine, or even a building under destruction a lot of potential with that one.

Really neat video. It gives you some sentimental value when you can personally relate to an industry as you mentioned you had family working at the ammunition plant. Did you build this plant or similar on your layout? I also liked the brewery as one end was triangular shaped. You don't see buildings like that on many layouts. Great video!

It's surprising how large industrial buildings often are. Even when building model structures that seem pretty realistic in size to me it often turns out that they are more like half the size of the prototype.

Another great video with the drone! Just showing the weathering is a bonus. In my area we have the Watervliet Arsenal, which is like your Christie Park location. Watervliet goes back to the Civil War, I believe, and is still operational. Some of the buildings look similar. My layout is too small for such large buildings, however. Any suggestions/videos for smaller industries?
@djstrains4 жыл бұрын
I'm getting ideas actually for it.
@jerrysmith19294 жыл бұрын
You might consider modeling a single industry or maybe only a couple. If you choose well there are large industries which have a variety of structures and utilize several types of freight cars. A really large single industry may offer more than enough modeling and operations for an entire small or even medium size layout.

Hey man! Love your videos. Your info is always insightful. I recently watched a video hoping to get an answer about CSX train symbols but i never did. Was hoping you could give me insight. Let’s take, for example, Q614-11. I understand the letter makes it a quality train and the next three numbers are the train number itself. But what would the 11 be? Is that the day number the train originated? Or the 11th Q614 within a certain time period? I can’t seem to find a straight answer.
