Oh my gosh these are the "seagulls" I'm hearing on my morning walks. Threw me for a loop. Thanks so much for the video.

Omg me too! I totally thought it was a seagull but I live nowhere near a large body of water lol

So that's the bird that makes that sound. Interesting

Right?! I was surprised since given my limited bird knowledge, i thought it mightve been a blue jay. Further investigates, didnt see that usual blue, but a lot of gold coloring. A very nice surprise, in life...and learning. #keepbirdin'

@kerry2520 Blue Jay's copy their noises. They even copy crows. Crows copy them, too. Crows ,Jay's, and Ravens are a part of the corvid family. Their intelligence rivals that of a parrot easily.

Great sample of this hawk’s call and excellent camera work, with the steady hand and clear view of the bird.

Today i learned its easier to identify hawks by call than site. Cool now i know whats been harassing my hens.

Get either a goose or a rooster. Or a big dog. Hens don't often have enough aggression to give the hawks a reason to leave

A hawk that looks like a pidgeon that sounds like a seagull. Amazing.

Agreed, and I’ve been up close to two of them while job shadowing for a school assignment and let’s just say my eardrums were practically bleeding afterwards 😂😂😂

I've heard the call of a red-shouldered hawk where I live more times than I can remember.

Wonderful birds! What does it mean when they make this call? Are they looking for other hawks or just establishing territory?

I don't speak hawk, but it sounded to me like it was calling for a specific hawk. I wonder if it lost its mate.

I remember seeing Two Hawks chasing each other in my Yard. The Hawk doing the chasing landed in a Tree and made this sound. So now I’m guessing they were Red Shouldered Hawks.

Sounds like it! Sometimes I get faked out by a blue jay mimicking one, but otherwise it’s a pretty distinct call.

Yeah, that's the one who just returned to our neighborhood this week after being seemingly absent since October.

Oh no way… I’ve been hearing this call in my neighborhood the past month. Do any other hawks sound like this? Haven’t located the nest yet, but I have a good idea which tree it’s in.
